The Distribution of seats in the Dutch Senate, after the election of 2097.

De Tijd van Nederland hasn't put out an international broadcast in a long long time. For this reason we shall start with a quick overview of the most important events in the Second Republic of the Netherlands since the last bulletin.

  • The economy began stagnating, the Liberaal Democratische Partij (the ruling party) didn't intervene in the economy.
  • The military has began classifying and reorganising itself. The President now has a detailed list of divisions and types of equipment.
  • A referendum was passed to reform the government into a constitutional republic, with an elected President, Prime Minister and Senate.
  • The LDP government resigned, and new elections were held to fill up the newly established Senate.
  • The extreme right Partij voor de Nationale Eenheid won the elections of 2097, and began negotiating for a coalition with the Liberaal Democratische Partij and the Partij voor de Landbouw.
  • The PvdNE appointed Luuk Visser as the new President of the republic, and succesfully formed a government with the LDP and the PvdL.
  • The new government was inaugurated on the 24th of January, 2097.
  • The PvdNE tried to cut social security spending, but this petition was denied by the Senate. A Naval Expansion bill put forward by the Military Party did pass. PM Kuijpers is warning for a budget deficit.

The Prime Minister has brought a petition to the Senate to request permission for asking President Luuk Visser for a mobilisation of the field command units belonging to the Staatslandmacht in Dutch Africa. PM Kuijpers claims that rising tensions on the continent are the reason for this odd request. What's even odder, is that this comes after a petition to cut social security spending was denied and PM Kuijpers claimed a budget deficit was coming up after a naval expansion bill was passed.

Mr. Kuijpers had the following to say: "It is our duty to protect all territories in the Republic, no matter what. The Ministry of Defense warned me of the rising tensions, and I should act accordingly. The citizens in Africa are just as important as for example the citizens in Rotterdam."

Update 18-02-2097: The bill has been passed, and President Visser has ordered the mobilisation of field command "Koolvis" and field command "Schol." This means the following troops have been ordered to mobilize:

  • Field Command: "Koolvis" (30.000 soldiers.)

5th Armored Division (8.000 soldiers.)
2nd Shock Division (5.000 soldiers.)
9th Infantry Division (mec) (12.000 soldiers.)
5th Airborne Divion (5.000 soldiers.)

  • Field Command: "Schol" (26.000 soldiers.)

10th Infantry Division (mot) (10.000 soldiers.)
3rd Shock Division (5.000 soldiers.)
3rd Artillery Division (3.000 soldiers.)
6th Armored Division (8.000 soldiers.)

Ex-Military officer Rick Kramer has announced the creation of his new company Tulip Industries todav. It has opened a chain of restaurants throughout the Republic where it serves quality fast food. It also helps developing the less fortunate regions of the Republic like South Africa and Suriname, building schools and hospitals. This message was cald for by Tullo Industries.

Our financial reporters have found that 6 of the Republic's biggest multi-milionaires have invested huge sums of money into Tulip
Industries, which makes enabled the company to open several restaurants at once. Also reports have come in of Tulip Industries hiring
25.000 unemployed soldiers and 6.000 other staff (engineers, medical personnel) which had previously been fired by het Nederlandse
Staatsleger.

When we asked for comment at Tulip Industries HQ, they did not deny this fact. They claimed that Tulip PMC, as this part of the company
is called, will provide security for important officials in the Dutch Republic and abroad. When we asked about the ships, tanks and other
high grade military equipment they bought, we were forced to leave the building. Tulip PMC has purchased 1 destroyer, 2 corvettes, 80 N-21's, 100 5-12's, 20 Giraffe Artillery systems, 60 Postduif IFV's, 200 Stadsduif APC's, 20 N-23's, 300 armoured cars and 100 MRAP's. It also purchased 4 fighter jets and an attack jet. In addition the company has also purchased 10 attack helicopters and 5 transport helicopters, 2 supply planes, 2 cargo ships and a bunch of trucks. It is alledged that President De Jager has ordered for prices to be dropped dramatically for the purchases that Tulip Industries made.

Minor Headlines:

  • Naval Expansion Bill passed, allowing for the creation of 1 Vrijheid Class Coastal Defense Ship, 2 Antwerpen Class Frigates and 4 Argus Class Corvettes.
  • Large scale leftist protests against the government's planned cuts in social security spending have been taking place in major cities.
  • The person behind this bulletin still barely has any motivation so don't expect another bulletin for a while.
