Escharia, officially the Escharian Empire is a country located primarily in Western Europe. It also includes overseas regions and territories in Africa. Escharia shares borders with Melon to the north, the German Federation to the northeast, Italy to the east, and Lunoria to the south, and borders with the British Empire, Graveyard Fleet, and Mundusia in Africa, as well as a maritime border with Sedrosia.

Pre-Revolutionary History

Metropolitan France was settled during the Iron Age by Celtic tribes known as Gauls before Rome annexed the area in 51 BC, leading to a distinct Gallo-Roman culture. In the Early Middle Ages, the Germanic Franks formed the Kingdom of Francia, which became the heartland of the Carolingian Empire. The Treaty of Verdun of 843 partitioned the empire, with West Francia evolving into the Kingdom of France. In the High Middle Ages, France wasa powerful but decentralized feudal kingdom, but from the mid-14th to the mid-15th centuries, France was plunged into a dynastic conflict with England known as the Hundred Years' War. In the 16th century, the French Renaissance saw culture flourish and a French colonial empire rise. Internally, France was dominated by the conflict with the House of Habsburg and the French Wars of Religion between  Catholics and Huguenots. France was successful in the  Thirty Years' War and further increased its influence during the reign of Louis XIV. The French Revolution of 1789 overthrew the Ancien Régime and produced the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which expresses the nation's ideals to this day. France reached its political and military zenith in the early 19th century under Napoleon Bonaparte, subjugated part of continental Europe, and established the First French Empire. The French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars significantly shaped the course of European history. The collapse of the empire initiated a period of relative decline in which France endured a tumultuous succession of governments until the founding of the French Third Republic during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870. Subsequent decades saw a period of economic prosperity and cultural and scientific flourishing known as the Belle Époque. France was one of the major participants of World War I, from which it emerged victorious at great human and economic cost. It was among the Allied powers of World War II, but it surrendered to the Following its liberation in 1944, the short-lived Fourth Republic was established and later dissolved in the course of the defeat in the Algerian War. The Fifth Republic was formed in 1958 by Charles de Gaulle. Algeria and most French colonies became independent in the 1960s, with the majority retaining close economic and military ties with France.

Escharia's origin and the French Civil War.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in the year 2020, the world, particularly Europe was put into a state of complete economic disarray. Many countries resorted to radical ideologies, like Russia and Serbia (Now the Soviet Federation), or collapsed into anarchy (Germany). In France, a communist coup led by Logan Watermelon overthrew the democratically elected Emmanuel Macron, leading to a French Civil War. Escharia emerged as an alternative religious state in the south of France, founded by the wealthy, Robespierre-era Cult of the Supreme Being. They also fought for independence from France, but were pushed back to Corsica. They regained most of their lost territory during the Melonese-Escharian war.

DuPont Family

Escharia is primarily operated by members of the prestigious DuPont family. They originally owned and operated a secret society known as the Cult of the Supreme Being, which used to control France under the Robespierre Era.The society was made up of around ten thousand of the French elite,including politicians, mafia bosses, police chiefs, military generals, and even several French presidents. The society had an approximate worth of over ten billion dollars at the time, allowing them to pay for and sponsor armed militias during the collapse of France. They eventually established a solid footing in Corsica and Southern France, and declared themselves the Escharian Empire - Successor to the French Republic. They established their organization as the only legal religions, and burned down thousands of churches and mosques, replacing them with statues of Robespierre. They were eventually pushed out of Southern France and fled to Corsica with most of their loyal population. The Escharian exodus to Corsica is considered the single largest movement of people in human history.

Overseas Territories

Escharia owns several overseas territories, also operated by the Cult of the Supreme Being. Under Jean-Pierre DuPont, they purchased the entire Congo region from Great Britain, alongside Crete. They also established a military outpost on the disputed island of Elba between Escharia and Italy. 

Human Rights concerns.

Escharia was marked by the Ruddock Media outlet as the #3 most dangerous country to live in, and was considered to be at an 83% risk of government-sponsored !@#$. Escharia was responsible for the theft of vast fortunes from the Congolese people by exploiting the nation's natural resources. At first, mass amounts of ivory & luxury goods were stolen from the country, but this did not yield the expected levels of revenue. When the global demand for rubber & cobalt exploded, exploitative efforts shifted to the labor-intensive collection of sap from rubber plants. Abuses, especially in the rubber industry, included forced labor of the native population, physical assault, widespread murder, and frequent mutilation when production quotas were not met. One practice used to force workers to collect rubber included taking wives and family members hostage. Alongside this, abuses in the mining industry were common. These included the usage of child labor to enter small tunnels, the underpaying of workers, and max executions of union members. The Congo Free State experienced significant revolutionary sentiments, especially in the cobalt-rich Elizabethville province. Alongside this, there is no free media or free press in Escharia, with all of it being owned and operated by the DuPont family or their associates. Escharia is also responsible for the intentional spreading of Biru and the Omicron Variant of COVID-19 within Crete to kill off dissenters, and to generate millions of dollars in revenue for High Priest in Waiting Louis DuPont's crematorium business. Lastly, Escharia has been implicated in committing numerous war crimes during the Melonese War, including the mass killings of civilians, using bio-mechanical weapons to commit acts of terrorism, and cannibalism of their own dead during the seige of Port Cros. 

Scandals

Jean-Pierre DuPont has been accused of murdering his first wife, and having !@#$ with a prostitute. He has also been accused of misconduct by several of his female priests, however they have either disappeared or been arrested for unrelated crimes. Charles DuPont, the grandson of Jean-Pierre is in trial in Sedrosia for !@#$ smuggling.
