The Melbournian National Army Victorian Times | January 19, 2096 |
The Melbournia National Flag. After the Queensland of Victoria established its protectorate in Gabon, the protectorate immediately finds itself unstable over the cartels in the region. After agreeing on elections as prime minister Mateo Ondo Nguema is voted, the government establishes its national army permitted by the Victorian constitution. The Melbournian National Army is commanded by Alain Maroundou and is composed of 10,000 soldiers, 25 tanks, 50 armored cars, and 5 aircraft (helicopters). The main purpose of the army is to defend itself from security threats including the elimination of Carlos Cartel in the region of Gabon. The Melbournian National Army is utilizing T-95 tanks and Volkan-25s from the Soviet Federation after the purchase deal was made last week. The soldiers are also fitted with the new Blackwater Type 70 jungle camo uniform for jungle operations, standard Orulia Corp. Kevlar vests, ALN-53 Bullpup rifle, and AK-91s from Kolakia. They are also composed with Melbournia Light Infantry Division, Melbournia Light Cavalry Division, Melbournia Air Cavalry Division, and Melbournia Tank Division. The Melbournian Army continues to improve and increase the former Orchid PMC soldiers began to show up in their army after their exhausting story of crossing the Saharan Desert in order to get here. They retrieved a P-R2A Frederick tank by the Orchid PMC and immediately put it up for maintenance in order to create their own variant the P-R2B. The Victorian constitution further increased their military budget to 270M OBD to enhance its overall performance rather than quantity. The Melbournian National Army proves to be determined to secure the Gabon region from threats as a protectorate rather than trying to expand themselves. The Victorian constitution is reported to have plans sending 6 ship vessels for the creation of Melbournian Royal Navy in order further increase their security measures in their territorial waters. |

The BWT-5 Claymore Victorian Times | January 19, 2096 |
The BWT-5 Claymore, photo by Blackwater Corp. in TwiXer.com The BWT- 5 Claymore is a fifth generation Victorian main battle tank (MBT). Developed by Blackwater Corporation in 2094-2095, the tank entered service in 2096 and replaced the P-R2 Napoleon as the main battle tank of the United Kingdoms of Victoria. Various iterations of the P-R2 Napoleon continue to be operated by the armed forces of Qingdao and the Melbournia National Army such as the P-R2A Frederick and the future P-R2B. The BWT-5 Claymore utilizes a 125mm BME smoothbore cannon with 42 rounds with a max elevation speed of 9° per second. The BWT-5 Claymore has an elevation range of -9 to +20 degrees with a crew of 4. It has a 7.62mm machine gun (FNMG-67) that is remote controlled and has advanced targeting system equipped night vision and thermal sights. It has an optional autoloader system and wet ammunition storage to avoid dangers of explosion inside the tank. The BWT-5 features the latest generation of passive armour and belly armour providing protection against mines and IEDs. The BWT-5 is fitted with adapters for mounting additional armour modules or protection systems against RPGs. For urban combat, the BWT-5 can be fitted with different packages of modular armour. The BWT-5A Grunwald, BWT-5 PSO (Peace Support Operations) and the BWT-5 Claymore can mount thick modules of composite armour around the flanks of the turret and hull, while slat armour can be adapted at the vehicle's rear. The armour modules provide protection against modern RPGs, which depending on the warhead can penetrate between 300 millimetres and 600 millimetres (24 in) of steel armour. The BWT-5 Claymore increases protection against RPGs by including additional slat armour. On 22 May 2095, the Victorian Ministry of Defense agreed to developed a system similar to the Trophy, an active protection system, and integrates it into the turret of the BWT-5 intercepting oncoming anti-tank missiles. 20 BWT-5 tanks will be fitted with the system, with integration of missile jamming system (BME MJS) planned to be completed in February 2096. The BWT-5 tank's sideview, photo by Blackwater Corp. on TwiXer.com The gun is fully stabilised, and can fire a variety of types of rounds, such as the BW43 APFSDS-T anti-tank round, which is said to be able to penetrate 560 millimeters (22 in) of steel armour at a range of 2,500 metres, and the BWT12-H high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT). For the BW Type 12 gun, a newer APFSDS-T round was introduced to take advantage of the longer barrel, the BW44, which is said to be able to penetrate 750 mm of armour at a range of 2,450 meters. The bore evacuator and the gun's thermal sleeve, designed to regulate the temperature of the barrel, are fabricated from glass-reinforced plastic. The barrel has a chrome lining to increase barrel life. The main gun is capable of power elevating from +20° to −9°. The BWT-5 is equipped with two machine guns, one mounted co-axially, the other on an anti-aircraft mount. Victorian models use the ALNM 50 cal machine gun near the commander's hatch, while the Melbournian models use the ALNM 7.62mm machine gun. The export variant, BWT-5A Grunwald operates with the new ALN75 7.62mm machine gun with 5,000 rounds. It has a maximum speed of 90 km per hour (55 mph) with 1,200 litres of fuel, managing to operate within a 340 km operational range with the new BME-BW 85 propulsion engine solely built for this tank while the BWT-5A Grunwald uses the BME 84 engine. 100 BWT-5A Grunwald tanks are sent to the Kingdom of La Plata with 70 P-R2 Napoleon as they've ordered last week and the shipment should've arrived now. |
