The United Imperium and La Plata Sign an MDP

The United Imperium has a long history of cooperation with the nations of South America. In particular, its alliance with Cruzeiro celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, one of the oldest in the world of Orbis. In the spirit of continuing that trend, President Regan signed a Mutual Defense Treaty with La Plata. La Plata is already one of the strongest allies of Cruzeiro in the region. By signing this defense treaty, the Imperium and La Plata will strengthen the relationship that they have already shared with one another through Cruzeiro.

Treaty of Roosevelt

With the Soviets and Sedrosians continuing the debate over Istanbul, and with the prospect of war in Europe growing once again, the United Imperium, Graveyard Fleet (or whoever is in charge of them now), and the Dutch Republic came together to broker a peace deal. This came immediately on the heels of the earlier treaty of the Hague, in which both the Imperium and the Dutch were also present at as moderators. At first, neither the Soviets nor the Sedrosians were willing to negotiate with one another, due to conflicting claims over the city. Ultimately, after a very tense negotiation, a compromise between the nations was struck, where Istanbul would be under its own jurisdiction, acting as an independent city-state. The full terms of the treaty are listed below.

Terms of the Treaty of Roosevelt:
1. Free Istanbul NOW
2. Dauchh & TUI garrison a force to make sure that Istanbul is free
3. Dauchh & TUI set up local oversight commitee to make sure no undue influence from Sedro or Soviet (politically independent)
4. Sedro sets up cultural oversight commitee to make sure Istanbul is culturally Sedrosian
5. Soviet naval & missile assets allowed in city to deter potential Sedrosian aggression
6. UEC garrison is the same size as the TUI & Dauchh Garrisons
7. Sedrosia is allowed right of way through Istanbul and is given permission to build transport infrastructure in the city. Soviets may veto this if said infrastructure harms Soviet ability to traverse the region

Imperium Diplomat Jermaine Wallsington Voting On An Early Proposal for the Treaty of Roosevelt in the United Imperium

The Treaty marks another landmark deal for the United Imperium's peacekeeping corps, and the third major such treaty of Regan's Presidency. Interestingly, despite Regan running on something of a more aggressive foreign policy, his administration has been critical in brokering multiple peace deals and building multiple alliances for the United Imperium. The two most notable of these are the Lunorian and La Platan alliances. Of course, the strengthening of ties between the United Imperium and the Sedrosian Empire is another way in which Regan has continued to strengthen the diplomatic efforts of the United Imperium. The question remains, will Regan's administration and the United Imperium continue keeping the peace, or will Regan revert to his original foreign policy style? With a war potentially brewing in South America between La Plata and Peru-Bolivia, we will get an excellent opportunity to see what happens.
