The New Ghaza Minister of Sport, Mostafa Zayed, has announced that the Sunbirds are going to be competing in the Orbis Major League Baseball (OMLB) league.

After minimal investment into the sport in the first two years of its existence, the Sunbirds have amassed a 225-55 overall record in the Orbis Baseball League. They have scored 873 runs, 502 of which were home runs, and they have thrown for 7,750 strikeouts! The team currently plays in the city of Handala at Handala Field, a small stadium that currently seats 10,500 people. The move to the majors signals a more serious investment is inbound for the nation and its baseball programs.

"Baseball is a sport that I came to love as a kid when I lived in the United States. It has given me some of the best memories of my life. It truly is a sport where it does not matter where you come from, what size you are, what color you are, how fast or slow you are...anything. It's a game of passion, determination, precision, strategy. I was very excited to make that a focus for New Ghaza when I moved back home. The royal family is all-in with sports in the Kingdom. This will give us opportunities to invest into youth baseball programs around the country, give the citizens more entertainment and pride and more. This is the first step in a soon-to-be flourishing program. We want to thank Commissioner Lucky Luciano and Deputy Commissioner Willy McGregor for the opportunity to participate in the third season of the league. We look forward to long-term success and participation."
