How Iberian Lunoria came to be

I’m using a hotspot while the power is out, so I’m gonna make a little story/explanation as to how my nation split off from Iberia upon its collapse, but to do so, I must first tell the story of its new leader

The background of General Andres Varela:

Varela was born in 2051 in Lisbon Portugal. He grew up in a poor and miserable household. His father had served in the Portuguese division of the NE army and turned to alcoholism after being sent home due to an injury. At age 7, everything would change for the ruler to be, Tensions with France (what would become The Melon) had risen to the breaking point and French troops began to rapidly cross the NE border and war had begun. In 2059, the war was not going well for NE dand it was clear that by the time Varela turned 8, the French would conquer the entire peninsula. Fearing this, the Varela family sold nearly everything they owned and moved to America (specifically what would become RMR). Upon reaching America, Varela was enrolled in American schooling and was forced to learn English so he could help his family sell any produce they gathered from the ranch they were renting out of.  In 2065 both of Varelas parents were killed in an automobile accident and Varela was forced to move once again into foster care. In 2066, Andres met the woman he would later marry (I haven’t thought of a name for this character yet). He would move in with the family of his then girlfriend and in a bizarre twist of fate, the family would relocate in what was Varela’s 3rd time to Cascadia (which will eventually explain how he made it to Iberia at the end). After living with the family of his soon to be wife for a span of several years, the couple would be married in the year 2074. After living in Cascadia for a while, the couple saw new opportunity when they heard that RoDevs had kicked The Melon out of Southern Iberia and established an anti communist puppet state there. Having fled from The Melon and communism once before, Varela was overjoyed at the thought that his homeland was now free from Communist hands and begged his wife to move there. Sure enough, she agreed and the two of them set off for RoDevs (to get proper paperwork) and eventually Southern Iberia.  Upon reaching Iberia, Varela realized that things were very different from how his childhood home was and he would join the military in 2081.

Military career and rise to power:

Originally, Varelas wife was not pleased with the choice of military service as the couple would soon welcome a child and tensions throughout Europe were rapidly growing as Deckerton and Germany declared all out war over control of the English Channel. Regardless, Varela continued his military service and in 2085 when Iberia gained full independence, Varela truly began to rise throughout the ranks of the Portuguese divisions. However the worst fears of his wife Leah (basic ass name but whatever) would come true as the second Sedrosian war broke out and the Melonese front opened up. While no direct family of Varelas or his wife’s were killed, the fighting seemed to have changed Varela as a person with him becoming much more serious in nearly all moments often described by his friends as “Serious to the point of being scary when not joking”. Another big change in Varela would be his absolute hatred of communists after the Melonese invasion and him having seen true cruelty done to civilians and soldiers alike. Due to his service during the second Sedrosian war into fending off Melonese invaders, he was awarded the title of Brigadier General and given command of both Portuguese and Spanish divisions. After several more years of military service, Varela would become fed up of Iberian rule after being forced to participate in several atrocious acts in Africa (namely Morocco) and seeing the treatment of Portuguese in cities like Madrid. In 2092 Varela would inform his wife of his plan (his and several other both Spanish and Portuguese military officials' plan) and this would have been the final change to prevent a military takeover before it happened. In October of 2093, just mere weeks after the assassination of the Iberian King (in this story Varela gave TUI the info to air strike the King), Varelas men walked into the Iberian government building and began to detain or shoot the Iberian loyalists. This would mark the beginning of an Iberian collapse as now the Iberians had a military takeover on their hands. At first Varela would sort of work hand and hand with APSA (enemy of my enemy) but as Iberia began to rapidly lose loyalist forces and Varela with his promise of a “Perfected Iberia” gained momentum, APSA support was no longer needed and Varela made that very clear. The civil war/military coup would continue until November of 2094 and when the military rebels declared victory and loyalist forces were arrested, Varela was chosen to lead the new military and declared Líder supremo (Supreme Leader). Now Varela must lead his fractured nation and deliver on his promise of a paradise on Earth and to turn his Iberia into a center of wealth and culture and make sure that his opponents stay in line for it like a wise man once said, “Just remember who’s in charge”. In April, 2095 his rule is going strong and most of the old Iberian government has been given military tribunals and promptly executed, but there is still work to be done.
