South American Peoples Union develops first nuclear weapon

      On December 28, 2094, the South American Peoples Union joined the ranks of the most dangerous nations in Orbis, those with nuclear weapons, after creating a nuclear program that yielded the nations first nuclear device today.

      The weapon has been christened the THALL after that one Dr. Who story where the Thall destroyed the Dalek city with a huge missile. Similarly to its namesake, the THALL is designed to be mounted to a ballistic missile, as the countries leaders believe that an aircraft delivered nuclear device was too risky.

      The General Secretary of the nation has promised a "no first use" nuclear policy, making it clear that the THALL will only be used in response to a nuclear attack on the nation itself, regardless of outside circumstances. The South American Peoples Union remains committed to peace with its neighbors and believes that this weapon only represents a deterrent to nuclear attacks upon itself, rather than a threat to other nations.
