the queen who sat beside him leant against his shoulder... as the earl of york drove the carriage of shire horses through the moorland path. So rugged and icy they had been rendered by winter's cruel breath and the bitter wind that knived through the land like a evil ghost.

"The Queen seemed to huddle tighter to her future husband as the horse clipperty clopped onwards towards wherever they were going. I was just finishing with feeding the chickens and was making my way back home.. when I saw the carriage come into view. The royal couple did not really look so royal. He looked much more like a plain gentleman with the way he was dressed... muddy leather boots... a tattered beige cloak and a muddy top hat on his head... I was rather intrigued. I must admit he still cut a dashing image... he still looked rather grand... at least not in a royal way.

With his pipe in his mouth and hair plastered across his forehead in an untamed and angry fashion.. I presumed he was in a moody and unforgiving mood.... but then at that moment I saw him chuckle .

Why was he chuckling so? what? and then...

It was the queen. Only she didn't look like a queen. dressed in a cotton embroidered dress that looked as if it was hand sewn... one could have mistaken her for a milk maid or something of that kind. Her rosy hair was blowing in the wind wildly... and her twinkling eyes were looking up at the man. I was confused... Was this really our king and queen?

She suddenly opened a ragged cotton bag she was clutching... and from within she revealed something that looked like a sandwich...

the carriage stopped in the middle of the moor just near a small pond. The wild grass was swept back by the gale and the mountains in the far distance seemed too lonely and far. The sheep that grazed here were gone… leaving the empty and silent moorland to the farmer and his beloved

I heard her speak...she said something about the sandwiches "i made some fresh berry jam.... would you like to try them?"

its strange... her voice seemed so much lighter than i had imagined. I pretended to pause too and untied and retired my laces... I didn't want to look like I was purposefully eavesdropping.

his large hand was gliding through her hair... and then he clutched her cheek... the wind was turning so much more cold by now... and I saw the sky darkening.  They said the country would be going to war...and maybe that explained his stern expression. As I looked closer.... i noticed that the queen.. even though she was smiling... seemed rather weak and pale. she wore no shawl and as the wind blew.... she shivered.

the king seemed to notice this... and suddenly spoke for the first time... "Why aren't you wearing a shawl?"

he said this rather angrily and she just smiled back... and then he sighed and took his jacket off and wrapped it around her.

"Eat those" he said in a stern voice,  gesturing to the sandwich she clutched in her hand.

She looked down rather doleful “oh but these are yours.”

He looked at her with a very serious expression … “do as you are told rosemary”

“ok” replied the queen in a shy voice

I still can't believe that this meek girl was our queen… It is very clear now, just who is running our country  I thought to myself whilst I continued to watch the queen obeying this man. . .

"What am I to do with you?" he said grumpily ... and raised his brow whilst she leant against him and quietly ate the sandwich. Seeing her face revealed to me for the first time I noticed how fragile it looked."

this was an Account from tom the peasant farmer who was coming home after feeding chickens. He  happened to stumble upon the earl of york and the queen eating sandwiches or something like that… he also saw the future king order the queen around and act evil….  tom then sent this handwritten account to the papers hoping to get some money for this. .
