Presidential Election Announced:

Amsterdam | 11-03-2093.

As dictated by Boudewijn Kuyper himself, Presidential terms in the Netherlands only last 2 years. This was put in place in order to be able to get rid of incompetent government easier and quicker. The second cabinet of President Kuyper was inaugurated in 2091, which means the end of the term has been reached. This year it will be time for another Presidential election!

So far there have already been several announced candidates in the race: current President Kuyper as an independent, General Gert Stegehuis for the far right party Militair Belang Nederland, current Vice President Annie Schots for the Liberal party Liberalen Voor Vrede, Robert Steen for the fascist party Fascistische Beweging NL and Georgina Steen (yes the sister of Robert Steen) for the Nederlandse Arbeiderspartij (communist).

We will soon set up a place with an overview of these candidates and the parties they represent, alongside the other smaller parties in the Netherlands for people to better understand the Dutch political landscape.

Fortifications in South America:

Paramaribo | 11-03-2093.

With the recent addition of Suriname to the Dutch Republic, the military decided that it was neccesary to bring the new land up to the same defense standards as the rest of the DCH: near impenetrable fortresses. Whereas the islands already had radars, forts, anti aircraft systems, radar jammers and other defensive material prepared, Suriname is a different story. It's years of lawlessness made it so that national defense was not a priority.

The Dutch garrison has already arrived, and many jobs have been created for the civilian population in building the neccesary structures. The DCH and Suriname are important naval bases for the Dutch, and thus a lot of money is being poured into their defense. As this article is posted, construction of forts and radars has already begun, and the other materials like anti aircraft systems and radar jammers are currently being shipped over under protection of the Nederlandse Marine.
