The Furry Methodist Church was established shortly after the founding of capital city Furrydelphia (in 1948), where many Furries who identified with Christian values came together to form a community. This community believed in the teachings of John Wesley, but with a unique twist that included the belief of superiority over humans. The Garden of Eden played a significant role in the religious beliefs and establishment of the Furry Methodist Church, based on their shared belief in the Garden of Eden and the idea that Furries are the descendants of the animals that lived there, this belief is reflected in their religious texts and teachings, which emphasize the importance of embodying the qualities of their holy ancestors in order to achieve spiritual enlightenment, the Furries believe they are perfect creatures compared to humans, because they (humans) disobeyed Jehovah by eating the fruit of knowledge and have been sinning since the existence of the creation. As the Furry Empire grew, so did the influence of the Furry Methodist Church, which became the predominant religious institution in the Empire. However, their belief in superiority over humans led to tensions with outside nations, which often viewed them as a cult or a speciesist society. Despite this, the Furry Empire continued to prosper under the guidance of their then religious leaders and political figures, until the rise of fascism by the then (untraditional) Conservative Party in the late 21st century, who used these beliefs as justification for a "holy purification" of the Empire; oppressing, executing and discriminating those who were humans. During the civil war, the Furry Methodist Church remained largely neutral but saw a divide between its members, with some siding with the Nationalists and others with the Monarchists. It was only after the Libertarian Movement's coup that the church found solace, as it aligned with their core values of compassion, charity, and community. Nowadays, the Furry Methodist Church remains an integral part of the Furry Kingdom, promoting spiritual unity, faith, hope, respect and decency for all creatures, while continuing to uphold their unique (controversial) belief of superiority over humans. Despite this belief, some methodist Furries believe that humans can be educated and enlightened, and that they can learn to live in harmony with one another.
