Global nuclear Radiation Index: 687.33

The outbreak of war between the large alliance blocs of nations and the unleashing of atomic weapons have caused severe damage to the Earth’s ecosystem as well as the world economy.

As most citizens purchase food through their own nation’s supply chains and most governments subsidize food prices, the scarcity of non-irradiated food is becoming more common as farmers throughout the world are suffering and many of the world’s poor are unable to buy once affordable food. The prices of everyday items such as medicine are also on the rise. The conflict across the globe and the large amount of raiding warlords who have large armies at their command make the situation and battle for resources even more unattainable for the smaller nations of the world.

Today the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Valyrian Freehold unanimously passed the “Radiation Cleansing Act” which allocates government funds to supply cities with radiation cleaning crews who work along with first responders. These task forces are searching for the most highly irradiated areas of the Freehold and attempting to clean and remove the radiation as safely as possible. The use of experimental chemicals that can remove a large percentage of the radiation from a specific area shows promise but due to the amounts of radiation being released into the atmosphere and with the continued large scale detonation of atomic weapons daily, the radiation levels in the world will not decrease enough to repair the soil unless there is a halt to the launching of any more nuclear weapons.

The Premier of the Valyrian Freehold, Malaemond Barnareon today spoke with reporters. He was asked if Triarch Aurion was considering any other emergency safety measures to try and protect the people and the environment of the Freehold and said “The Triarch has taken many executive actions in the last few weeks in regards to radiation safety procedures as well as authorizing emergency funds to protect critical infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, and areas of national defense from radiation damage. Public transport has also been equipped with vehicles that can safely travel through irradiated hot zones and protect the passengers inside. Next week the Supreme Peoples Assembly will be reviewing legislation that will begin building new housing units underground in a effort to shield the population as much as possible from exposure to radiation. Hopefully the leaders of the world will stop their petty fighting and realize that these wars mean nothing if non-irradiated food cannot be grown and if radiation levels don’t decrease. The Valyrian Freehold will take all measures that are necessary and proper to maintain the integrity of the State and to protect the health and well-being and civil liberties of the citizens of Valyria”
