JI Missile Corps tests new large nuclear device.

Today, , the Japanese Isles Missile Corps has tested an estimated 140-144 megaton thermonuclear bomb. The codename of the test, ELTND-3, also known as the Emperor Bomb, was designed to be a 125-megaton bomb, but the weapon outdid standards. This bomb was to test JI knowledge of nuclear physics and prove a warning to other nations. The aircraft that dropped it was a modified JB-35 Shiro, as it was too heavy to be placed on a missile, weighing in at almost 90 tons. When asked about ELTND-3, the joint lead team of JI scientists said it was unlikely to make a nuclear bomb similar or larger than this yield, however the ELTND program will continue for the foreseeable future. If you saw the picture, you saw JIN naval ships in it, these ships were there to test JIN NBC survival against nuclear explosions, which has been a big focus of the ELTND program. All the results of the ELTND-3 test haven't been released to the public, or us, the press, because we can't get the entire details. Only the details the government wants us to, however, a release piece of information is interesting is that even the older generation of JI ships have shown resistance to nuclear blasts. As such, it is expected that the newer ships have better resistance theoretically. That being said, the ships did sink after the third shockwave.

This test was Nukeyan Approved.

JI tech released to JIAF forces.

These techs include the following vehicles and vessels, if there's a bold * next to it, it means it's already been phased in for quite some time and the JI government just wants the world to remember about it, if there's an extremely new piece of tech, the name will be italicized to show it won't be in service for some time:

  • SAsC-12BC, an updated version of the JI main helicopter, featuring 50% more missile capacity and better EW systems to mitigate MANPADs. The 14mm back defense gun of the SAsC-12 has been improved to be able to react and target MANPADs and other dangerous objects to the helicopter in the 12BC.
  • * JI-300 diesel submarine, an improvement over the extremely old JI-100 diesel submarines.
  • XM8-JIv3, a new rifle for all the JI armed forces branches. It is expected to have a fire rate of 800 rounds per minute, with a magazine of 55 5.56mm rounds. The rifle is expected to have only one weakness that's easily remedied, which is coolant.
  • Type-92 Kozak-20, an updated version of the Type 79 Kozak-15, featuring a shorter chassis, better armor, anti-tank missiles/better turret, IED protection. (And other stuff, but I haven't figured out)
  • Meiyo class Assault Ship, this naval vessel is expected to replace the Watashi class Amphibious Assault ship, being able to carry 25% more than the Watashi, and have a better defense system.
  • A new electronic naval warfare system named EWD-132-TDJIN has been designed by the Niigata Heavy Works, being able to be send out a powerful pulse to override enemy systems, while also being able to cast out a sort of electronic net to intercept enemy signals. Those are the only public information details currently.
  • * JF-9 Reiwa stealth fighter jet, Kazuhiro Aircraft (now part of Edo Missile and Air Designs), this fighter jet is one of JI's ace in the holes for air superiority, and has been, being able to massacre Beanstopian bombers in JI, Korea, and Nicaragua. Although its top speed is 'only' Mach 5.5, it's materials can withstand such speeds for quite some time, unlike Beanstopian bombers and fighters, which were observed breaking apart at times mid bombing run. The way the Reiwa can get up to Mach 5.5 is by using a ramjet that only can activate at speeds above 3 Mach, which two turbofan engines with afterburners allow it to get to. The Reiwa can break 2 Mach at level flight. It also has highly advanced EW and stealth capabilities, however, unlike the speed, we are not allowed to reveal it's characteristics, as it's still a relatively new (2-4 years old) airframe. It's armed with 4 internally mounted 15mm guns, 25 AtA-15 Annular Blast Fragmentation missiles internally, and 6 AtA-4 Active Radar Homing IR Guided Electro-Optical (ARHIRGEO) missiles on 6 hardpoints. The AtA-6 is avaible in extremely limited numbers due to its cost.
  • JF-11 Hinode, this aircraft design has been ordered but has had extremely limited specifications. All we know is that it will be the most advanced JI fighter to date, possibly will be only ordered for two wings, will use two engines, a ramjet, and a scramjet, and will have 8 hardpoints. Nothing else is known about the JF-11.
  • Yamato II updates: Air defense updates, this is navy wide.
  • Nyx type AA CIWS system, this CIWS system was given a Lunar name as a nod to the JI's closest, but possibly lost allies from the 2070s and 80s. It will have a powerful radar and increased ammo system.
  • Type 92 Yokai, a JI tank that is slightly phased into the AJI forces. (I haven't gotten the information for it yet, sorry)

        Coup being dealt with?

After an explosion and coup attempt in Kyoto, not much is known, other than the fact that an unknown faction has attempted to coup the government. This will be dealt with quickly. (Or so the government says). Prime Minister Rokukawa's condition is unknown currently, along with the National Diet.
