Around one year ago, the nations of Krustobia and Foj Gum entered a trade deal. Foj Gum is a nation that provides for it's citizens extensivley, and they were looking to expand their meal program beyond the baked potatoes and broth they could currently provide. San Krustibo is a nation that has a strong national pride, and were searching for riches to build their "Golden Chode Obelisk" out of, well, gold. The Krustobas were known for their vast grain surplus, and were more than willing to trade with Foj Gum for a portion of their vast treasury of precious metals and gems. Foj Gum's citizens loved the trade, as not only did a gargantuan supply of bread help the poor eat healthier, but the Foj Gum government sold some of the excess to restaurants and bakeries leading to a Foj Gumian baking renaissance. Cake baking contests were held every weekend and the already deep rooted culture of mukbanging enjoyed all the new foods even more. Meanwhile in Krustobia, the golden obelisk rested on the bluffs near the capital city, serving as a shining reminder of the nations quick rise and bright future. However, the average Krustobas citizen did not get to enjoy these benefits as they spent grueling hours in San Krustibo's inhumane factories and fields that power the rising nation's mercantilist economy. A few months into this trade deal, a United Nations report came out exposing these issues in Krustobia and it sent Foj Gum into panic. Many conservative factions, chefs and mukbangers disregarded the horrible morality of how they acquired their cheap grain, while the liberals and N'Yidistani minority (N'Yidistanians are closely tied to Chadlantan culture, and to see their brothers be forced into near slavery disheartens them, not to mention the 4.4% Foj Gumian minority) strived to cut off this trade deal and seek action against these horrible oppressors. The fate of the relations between Foj Gum and Krustobia then lied in the hands of Linda Orangina, the Gouvenuer of Foj Gum. Linda Orangina, however, sat on the fence and pretended that nothing was happening. Orangina first got into office after passing the liberal Council of Chancellors and conservative Chamber of Commerce due to her populist policies and ability to compromise, she valued support of the Conclave over decisive diplomatic action that had long been a strength in Foj Gumian politics. In this situation their was no compromise, and after weeks of fence sitting she resigned due to pressure from all parties to act on something she didn't quite want to act on. Serving as temporary Gouvenuer was Jaquis Bophades, who also served as temporary Gouvenuer following the assasination of Pablo Rosario. Bophades was one of the founding members of the Rosario Party, one of the big four political groups in Foj Gum, and he was a staunch liberal who opposed the trade deal and Krustobia. He is also a notoriously skilled diplomat who was ambassador to over a dozen nations, so the average Foj Gumian analyst would've told you he was brought in to distance FG from Krustobia while also keeping the peace. And for a few months, that is exactly what Bophades did, he nearly instantly altered the trade deal in a way that would give Foj Gum even more grain in exchange for less gold. The Krustobas also added in a clause to the deal requiring Foj Gum to not directly support the occasional U.N. incursions into Krustobia that started around this time. Bophades chose to ignore that clause and began to covertly supply the U.N. with some of the grain received in the trade. A few months went by, and soon the catalyst for the war would occur. A baseball game. The Foj Gum Joeys and San Krustibo Lickers were in the same league and historically they were bottom feeders, with the Joeys only mustering 1 winning season in their 10 seasons of existence and the Lickers failing to come up with a single winning season. These legacies of failure, however, led to an intense rivalry. The Lickers and Joeys would typically play 4 series of 3 games each per season, and most of the time these series would split 6-6. It was near the end of the season, and the Joeys were turning it around with young stars such as Jose Cumpleaños AKA Joey Birthday and Griff Robins AKA Rockstar Robbo and were poised to make their first ever playoff series. The Joeys had 3 games left in the season, at Portage Trail Park in San Krustibo. The Lickers had one advantage to the newly competitive Joeys and that was they were up on the season series 6-3, and if they just won a single game out of the next three they would take the season series for the first time in over 7 years. The series went about the opposite of the Lickers hopes. Game 1, the Lickers held a 5-3 lead going into the top of the 8th but after a solo home run in each successive inning the Lickers lost 6-5. Game 2, The Lickers were down 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded and two outs, Sammy Wilk III walks up to the plate and Greg Kohl strikes him out in 3 pitches. Game 3 was packed, with all 2,100 seats sold and thousands more crowded on the portage trail hoping to catch a home run or a glimpse of a franchise defining game. The game went about the opposite as the Krustobas faithful hoped. Cyrus Butler hit a leadoff home run and the Joeys kept piling on, they won the game and would once again tie the season series 6-6 to the tune of a 19-4 score. The Krustobas people were devastated, so much so that Krustobia declared war. Well, the baseball failure wasn't quite the full reason for war. Hours before, Krustobas intelligence discovered that Foj Gum had been supplying U.N. Incursions with the wheat that not only did Krustobia give to Foj Gum but told Foj Gum specifically not to supply the U.N. with. However, the Krustobas government needed another reason to war to appeal to the populous who wasn't willing to give it all up to fight over some grain supplied to the very people sent by the U.N. to fight for their rights. The Krustobas government appealed to the national pride of Krustobas, with the embarrassing loss at the hands of the Joeys, it would only make sense to declare war out of revenge. Thus started the Great Tuesday War,  called so because alot of fighting happened on the first day of the war before fighting once again subsided for a long period of time, many thinking the war was already over, but slowly the war picked back up again and both nations began ramping up attacks to now the point that both are in full scale war with no end in sight.
