Premier Dann 2 has signed into law the act relegating Magugpo and Jambangan from full regional city status, effective January 1, 2092.

This comes after a joint act from the Members of Parliament from both cities, led mainly by MP Saldin of South Jambangan.

Magugpons have been exploring the move for a while now, looking to rejoin Datu Bago which they have split up from in 2086. The city took a hit after the closure of Tagubud Steel, one of their biggest sources of tax revenue, and the local council has heavily depended on central emergency funding, amounting to 41% of the national total over the past two years.

The port city of Jambangan, meanwhile, has suffered from diminished external trade. The city was incorporated in 2084 as a freeport zone in a landmark deal with the Insula Union, yet sanctions placed on Insula from their military offensives in the region as well as extended Orbis recession sees its status in jeopardy. According to the PND-J, trade has gone down 35% over the past two years.

Jambangan will temporarily be under Inilijan. However, talks of the government relocating to Jambangan territory are underway, given its favorable location. Also, some of Inilijan territory will be ceded to Kagay-an and Kuta Watu.

Magugpo will rejoin Datu Bago, regaining secondary city status.
