"I'd rather be a housemaid than a queen"~  queen rusalochka

"The Book Of Traditional Housekeeping And Cooking" sparks massive controversy

"..Think of the queens from the past... they used to send their troops into battle. whereas our queen rather stay in the kitchen and wash dishes...think of what a mess this island has come too...." head of the feminist union

The picture above is what the front cover of "The Book of Traditional Housekeeping and Cooking" looks like. It is terrifying to think this tragic material has come from our own queen.  The fact that this has happened has absolutely disgraced any ounce of self worth our queen had left. Just the other day it was announce that a new book written solely by her grace was going into print to be dispatched all over the isles...It is a small book that includes a few pages on housekeeping and a small number of recepies for pudding, breakfast and dinner that were said to be the "personal favorites" of his lordship. It is not a surprise that the feminists have become completely infuriated by this display of "female dis-empowerment " ~ a term coined by a well known activist.  The feminists are resolved that our queen is not acting in ways that would set a good example for young women and the general opinion of high society is that she is only able to act under the power of his lordship. The recipes within the book are also not befitting to the upper circles. Dishes such as "pigs trotter soup with dumplings" and "homemade custard with herb and apple pie" and "chocolate cake" are among the peasant style foods involved.

As expected the feminists cannot take the fact that the queen has shown herself to be "utterly trapped under the patriarchy"

Feminist activist and head of the department of history at stowaway university  explains further ~

"it is clear that the earl of yorks dogmatic and controlling presence has effected our queen. I would not be surprised if he himself told her what to write (although there is no evidence to prove this). The fact that the queen has yet again set an example of "female dis-empowerment" just goes to show how much of the patriarchy is still here to stay. The things shes says in her book like "I'd rather be a housemaid than a queen" and "his lordship is the most wonderful judge of my cooking"... just shows how trapped within the patriarchy the queen has become. I mean she was always like this... always traditional and never really took on a dominating role... but now she has shown her absolute support of the patriarchy  by publishing a cooking book that promotes  women to take on roles of housekeeping rather than leadership in the workplace."

Some of the passages in the book have been given more attention than others. For example under the section titled "How does one organised shelves and larders? " the queen makes some rather bold statements which suggest she is trying to question the progression of technology.

she says in a very controversial paragraph:

"...to me I believe it is much better to wash dishes by hand than to ever go near a modern dishwasher. As a woman I believe I should take pride in doing more things the old fashioned way than resort to machines. Housekeeping and cooking is such an art and the joy would be taken out of it if I allowed the modern world to take over..."

Alot has been said about this one paragraph. some believe that it is another reference to the patriarchy. The head of the feminist union gave her opinion on the matter

"she wants to go back to a time when women had nothing to help them in there servitude. The dishwasher is a clear symbol of freedom and liberation from the patriarchy, but instead our queen wants to digress and promote a state when women were stuck in the kitchen and washing dishes...Think of the Queens from the past... they used to send their troops to battle. Whereas our queen rather stay in the kitchen and wash dishes...think of what a mess this island has come too.

The books front cover has also become another matter entirely... people are enraged that the queen is  dressed as a maidservant in peasant attire, It has shocked everyone and even some locals gave their opinions...

Jennifer Mcdonald from Callinesh said to us ~

"yep, the woman has certainly gone bonkers. I mean if you were a queen why would you make a portrait of yourself as a farmer"

another called Bernard the fisherman has a different opinion

"i think she looks really beautiful. I know its an unpopular opinion but I actually think modern fashion is very bad looking. So its quite refreshing to see the queen dressed in such simplicity.. "

The contempt among the nobles is also very strong... and actually quite concerning considering the political significance they have as a factional group.(and also considering they formed a rebellion last year):

"we don't want her anymore. We do not want a maid on the throne. We do not want that evil duke either... we want a proper monarch that does not dress like a sheep farmer!"  said an anonymous noble man. He said he remained anonymous due to the fear of "being clobbed and whipped by the earl of York.

Despite the feminist backlash however the book has seen very high sales throughout the island. It seems quite interesting that the queen also added a  passage in the introduction of the book, that seems to be a direct response to the backlash she was expecting before her book even went to print ~ this is what she writes...

"some say that women should take on roles of leadership... but I disagree. I believe that the nature of a woman is much more suited to looking after the home. I am much happier to rely on lord Meriwether. He is the most mature and wisest man... and agrees with me too!"
