Meriwether smirked ... and I could see his smile was cynical "here here!" he said boldly whilst filling his chalice once more and tipping his head back to drink.. evidently he was drunk.. and very merrily so as he lay back upon the plump silken sofa...

IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING!!! Rejoice and behold as the grand, wise and proud king turns scoundrel and gets drunk out of his mind!

The truth is very sad, dear ladies and gentlemen, even when we thought that our nation had finally seen real evils of this villainous wretch... even when the emperor lord majesty himself destroyed all the virtues our nation stands for ... we now get to see him in his worst drunken stupor! Hip Hip hooray for us at the press who have finally revealed the wine spilled  truth behind such an evil man!

Lord Meriwether apparently met with some rich friends for wine and roasted lamb in his private yacht, a week or so ago,as reported.

 An unknown voice has given our paper some very delicious information indeed about what exactly happened on that secret boat ~  bobbing up and down in the misty ocean....

Lo, and Behold ladies and gentleman and the rest of you peasants of the land,  as you await what comes next. What the future king himself is like beyond the shadows of his speeches and public performance is absolutely shocking!

Here is the full riveting account from the anonymous describing an unexpected evening spent with a drunken  Earl of York. But before you read it... remember the source is anonymous and that we have no idea of the validity of what is to be printed below...

with that being said... here it is...

Anonymous writes "me and my other friends decided that we should play backgammon that night. We were just about to sit down for a nice game and some good caviar when I got a call from the maid.

"sir, there's a gentleman caller for you... should i show him in" she said in a rather anxious tone.

I looked at my friend. we could not understand who would be knocking this late in the night. But anyways I decided to abandon the caviar for just a few more moments and see who our mysterious pilgrim was...

I went to the foyer to find myself facing a very familiar face. The furrowed brow, dark gleaming powerful cherry black eyes, the straight nose and the grand, proud demeanour...  he stood before me ringing his large hands gently...

The large golden watch on his wrist and the long black top beaver hat made me smile... the man had not changed in the slightest... why it was dear old Meriwether!

"My good man," he said and shook me firmly by the palm. "What's the mood this evening.. hmmm?..." he looked around with that smile of lighthearted contentment.

For a moment I couldn't think to answer him. My friend after all these years had finally made his appearance... and that was not all... for he was going to be king!

He raised an eyebrow at me so I quickly responded "Oh, nothing much at all... just a game of some sort.. oh but it is good to see you again after all this time... and of course so much has happened to you!" I think he saw right through my bad acting of trying to stay calm and composed. He seemed to chuckle at my excitement and patted me on the shoulder firmly...

"tell Patrick to ditch the old chess! it's pretty dead here old chap to be fair. I've the mind to take you all from this place to my yacht... got some good rum and whiskey - a good smoke and whatever else you want... come on lads" he said all this whilst waltzing into the smoke room with his usual proud and steady step, his black inverness cape bellowing with an angry spirit as he walked. He had already caught the attention of all the female staff who were just staring at the scene in wonder. They must have felt so shocked to see the future king here in person.   In a way it shocked me too, how a noble of his rank and position could still be so free and casual with life. He seemed to be fine with just going anywhere he pleased and with all the shenanigans in the papers regarding the stir he was causing in upper and lower society... It worried me how he could still act so free. It was quite obvious that he was the most wanted man by the media at this time and maybe even the mob and yet still he didn't care.

After he had gotten Patrick and I out of the house into the cool late august air ... we were left to see that he had traveled here by horseback and no carriage or staff at all..

"But is that wise?"I asked him as he mounted his great black steed., gently patting the horse as he did so..

"is what wise?" he said puzzled with a furrowed brow

"oh.. fact you're travelling without a coachman? in your standing?"

"without a coachman?" he chuckled "come on man get your steed and lets get going then..."

If I wrote a book about the night I might possibly have called it “the king on his yacht whilst his friend got pelted by saddle-less riding” ... seems fitting enough... and it certainly would be an amusing tale...

Once we arrived at the dock, my behind was completely beaten from the clippety clop of the bay steed that was kind enough to escort me... Patrick also seemed a little knocked out. Of course we both were well acquainted with riding... and were quite good at it if i do say so myself... but of course this was no hunting attire that we wore. both of us were not dressed in a way befitting to ride and therefore we sufferd for it. Our good jolly friend however was in fine spirit . If one was to call brooding and sombre fine. He wore nothing but a linen shirt with braces and brown breeches* and his black jockey boots were caked in mud. There was a unlit cigar in his mouth and the dirt from the ride had slightly smudged his serious face.

"she's over there" he spoke with gritted teeth and rolled up his sleeves whilst bending over to untie a rope... he nodded straight forwards across the sea..

"What is?" said I whilst rubbing my tanned hide..

"the island"

 *During the Regency era, breeches were worn largely as evening wear or at court, a practice that was to continue until the mid-century.

Once he had pulled the yacht close enough for us un seaworthy men to board , I felt a bit safer. The idea of standing alone at dock at that ungodly hour made me feel honestly a bit nauseous . it wasn't like I had never come here alone before... it was just that at this place with the king, well it all felt very strange and very spookish. The mountains that lay far off in the distance were hidden in the darkness... and yet I knew that the king was going to take us to them. Of course I was for adventure... and so was Patrick and it was wonderful to see our jolly companion again... but the earl's nature and his mood were just a little bit cold.

"Here she is... " he said as if he was talking about his daughter and not a boat, he gestured with his hand for us to follow as he led us two bewildered Englishmen to the inner cabin. When we entered I must admit I felt very good indeed. It was warm, smelt of rum and had some cosy looking portholes that gave a rather appeasing view of the ripply ocean under the light of yacht. "Come hither Marie" the king ordered in a gentle tone to a very beautiful looking woman.

She was a staff member it would seem, and smiled keenly at me as she filled a tray of golden chalices with sparkling crimson liquid...

"well... men, here try this... it's from Switzerland... thank you ..." he gestured to the woman as she left us and then he handed each of us a golden chalice.

The wine was beyond excellent and ,most happily for me, before Marie had left she was called back again as our glasses were in quick need of replenishing.

The three of us talked of many things for the first few hours. We ate fatty lamb cutlets, guzzled vintage wine, and ate cheese and sweet pork..

We mainly talked about the times we had at school in London... the summers, the splendour of the old days... women and pure nostalgia

all the while Meriwether's eyes were agleam, his merry laughter enlightened us all and caused us to drink another toast... to have more of the divine meat... to really let go and enjoy ourselves. For me and Patrick it was truly a liberating joy to be in his company. So uptight and rigid were most of our families and company we kept. Even the other gentlemen seemed a little off putting in some ways.

"you shall certainly make a good king," I stated whilst chewing a piece of Delicious red pork.

Patrick held up a glass of wine "here here!"

Meriwether smirked ... and I could see his smile was cynical "here here!" he said boldly whilst filling his chalice once more and tipping his head back to drink.. evidently he was drunk.. and very merrily so as he lay back upon the plump silken sofa...

"she will make you a good wife" Patrick hollard again whilst silently yawning.

and then I saw the king's eyes open... the merry smile left his face and was changed to a more severe expression.

"everything alright?" I asked

he looked at me and smiled again..."hmm... I should really take her back to York"

"oh?"

"yes.. ... yes... stupid girl" the striking glint in his eyes had faded now to an ember. his once merry expression was now returned

he sighed and then passed out from the wine...the golden goblet slipped from his hand and fell with a soft thud upon the thick rug.

The golden red sun was beginning to glint slowly across the rippling quilt of the sea, .as my own consciousness left me to another hereafter world where kings turned into wizards and traveled to strange magical islands~~~"

~~~~~~
 This new found look at our future king may really slander his reputation we had hoped… lets see how terrible things become for him in the future after this major embarrassment upon his soul! Maybe he’ll even want to run away back to the ugly island of York where he sailed from…!
Terribly unfortunate to hear. We hope the King cleans himself up and can once again lead a virtuous, civilized life by example
