7:00 AM

Civilians in the territory of Desolation point are beginning a new day. But 70 km away, motorboats filled with Canadian infantry are flying towards the island. The weather that day was nearly clear, and the civilian population would enjoy it, being likely one of the nicest days of the week. The Forest Talkers, were giving national speeches in the Desolation Point, as one of their political campaigns. The people were proud of what they had built since their declaration of independence. They had built a society that had survived the first flare, and the Collapse in the name of their primitive ideology. But what they were about to face, would start a long lasting conflict between The people of Great Bear, The Forest Talkers, and The Canadian Government.

The Landing

Two motorboats landed on the coast of the Desolation Point. The Canadian (Mainlander) soldiers were welcomed with silence up until they had spotted the town. The Canadians had rushed towards the town, and had made contact with the locals, which were severely anti Mainlander. The Mainlanders began to hold the civilian population up and loot them. Reportedly, multiple civilians who's names will not be disclosed, threw sizable rocks at the Canadian's head, where the soldiers then began to attempt to arrest multiple civilians, in which the population responded by using the weaponry they owned against the Mainlanders. The Mainlanders responded by opening fire on the civilians, within minutes killing 3 and injuring 5 more, and this is where The islands defense force, The Forest Talkers intervened. The Balaclava's of Great Bear advanced towards the Mainlanders with bows and spears, taking position up in the Old Stone Church, towards the end of the town. The Forest Talkers began firing arrows at the Mainlander's forces, to which the Mainlanders took cover behind trees, and began firing back with their modern, Colt C7's. Robert Smith, a civilian of Desolation Point, and a strong supporter of The Forest Talkers, threw a Molotov at the Mainlander forces, where they then retreated back to the motorboats, and went back to the mainland. During their retreat, The Forest Talkers destroyed one of two motorboats, and killing the crew inside.  By 11 Am, the attack had been repelled.

The Great Bear population had dealt with the Mainlanders stealing from their land for years, and once they had left, The Forest Talkers who had taken control, opposed the mainlanders, which the population strongly supported, and essentially, every Great Bear civilian, is also a Forest Talker.

Warning from the Canadian Government

With the attack being in success for Great Bear's defense, the Canadian government responded by delivering a letter directly to The Hunting Lodge in Broken Railroad the next week. The message stated the following:

"To the terrorists who claim our land, you have shown that the island of Great Bear can no longer be trusted as land of Canada's. The Canadian Armed Forces are sending men to extinguish your people, and take back our land." The rest of the message was damaged and too difficult to read, but the first passage had been in good condition. In response, the Forest Talkers evacuated all coastline, and the civilians were told to pack all of their resources and make way to designated points on the island. The Forest Talkers then responded with 2 letters to the Canadian Government, and were meant for the Prime Minister to read. The messages had been written in a threatening manner, and upon opening the second message, an explosive detonated within the PM's Office, immediately killing 3 ministers and severely injuring the Prime Minister, who is unknown to have passed due to the injury or not. With soldiers from the CAF heading towards Great Bear, they were about to land on a land they had never seen. Something that would haunt them for the rest of their lives.

The Quiet Landing

20 Canadian soldiers landed on the shores of the Coastal Highway, and 10 in Desolation Point. The soldiers advanced closer towards local towns, finding nobody. The soldiers spent their time looting the towns, where again they only found traces of the population. Then, at 3:32 Pm, the first casualty would be inflicted on the Mainlanders when an arrow struck a soldier in the chest from an unknown position. The now panicked Mainlanders in Coastal Highway set up in the garage, where they would unknowingly be surrounded by The Forest Talkers. In Desolation Point, the Mainlanders had held up in a cave after a blizzard set in. Back to Coastal Highway, a soldier left the garage at approximately 7 pm, where he surveyed the local area, finding an exit. He would safely return to the garage, plotting an escape up into the region of Pleasant Valley. This plan would be executed the next day, and upon crossing the bridge across a large ravine, the Mainlanders were met with resistance on the top of the ravine, lunching arrows down at the invaders. The Mainlanders responded with opening fire on the Forest Talkers above, which minutes later, the Forest Talkers retreated. Towards the end of the bridge, the Mainlanders were met with hostile wildlife, killing one and injuring another. The Mainlanders were then hit with a blizzard upon reaching Mystery Lake, the soldiers were met with a cruel blizzard, and being underequipped, half of the remaining forces would suffer from frostbite and eventually fade into The Long Dark. The Fate of the Desolation Point Crew is currently Unknown.
