Orbis Talks

Hey it’s your host skittle! And welcome to episode 5 of Orbis Talks! Before we start I wanna say sorry for the day delay I had my bros birthday, a friends birthday and I watched Oppenheimer so I was pretty busy yesterday. Also ima have my first football game tomorrow! So I don’t know YET if I will post epi 6 tomorrow. Without further ado I delayed this too much LETS START!!


Skittle: Hey how are you?

Rimskaya: I'm doing quite alright. Just reading the Communist Manifesto and taking notes. Helps draw my own conclusions rather than the usual "forcing it onto you" style of most media.

Skittle: Ah

Rimskaya: indeed

Skittle: Okay let’s jump to the first question, why and how did you start making bulletins.

Rimskaya: I started making bulletins shortly after I rediscovered Politics & War, after a 2 year break. I decided to start publicizing Rimskaya to make a name for herself, and also to introduce Marxist-Trotskyism to the world stage. So I guess I was a political advertiser of the most obscure kind, which helped gain me a unique position in early RP.

Skittle: Hm, that’s good, second question what was the first bulletin that went viral?

Rimskaya: It's hard to say which one specifically, but our fame first arose in our conflict with the long-gone Chaos Insurgency, who at the time was a regional power, and our top rival. We did some reality-bending shenanigans with them, plus an actual war, that ended in a white peace. From there we kinda just hung around and dabbled in regular politics.: 

Skittle: Ah, question 3 what’s your motivation to post?

Rimskaya: Ideas really. I have so many constantly popping in my head, that I just need to get them down somewhere. Regardless of the audience present, considering how retracted from global affairs I've been, these stories always seem to stand out amongst the constant warring and toxicity of RP. And of course, politics. If I can get even one person to consider reading into what Rimskaya is founded off of, then I have made a mark I will forever be satisfied with.

Skittle: Ah, 4th question how do you come up with ideas?

Rimskaya: Most of the time, I go over my current interests and mix them with my politics to create a story-line. For instance, Tiberius, Augustus' son, came into the scene after I had been doing some research into Star Wars, more specifically, the Sith. I figured I could incorporate some of their core principles into the story. In fact, that idea will be coming to play in another section of Rimskayan lore, with inspiration from Arstotzka (Papers, Please).

Skittle: Ah, okay 5th question who do you hate most in rp?

Rimskaya: I cannot point out any particular individual, as I haven't been active enough in it to gain personal views outside of the older members. So to this, I will simply answer, the "Intolerables", that is, the obscenely rude and profane. I could go as far to say the greedy and capitalistic, but that would draw nothing of value for Rimskaya

Skittle: Ah, a less canceling question, who do you like best in rp?

Rimskaya: Is that even a question? Luna, of course. 

She's been at Rimskaya's side since our return, and the foundation of their state. Nothing has come between us and them since then, and they proudly ascended to the Aequitas Presidency upon our resignation, a position they are completely deserving of.

Over the years, Luna has remained among the most honest and kind in bulletin writing, and done her best to survive in such a toxic environment, and simultaneously, she has become a close friend of mine, the likes of which I could not have imagined prior.

Skittle: Ah okay! A more lunar related question, 7 what do you think of Luna X RoDevs?
Rimskaya:

Skittle: how’d he get that in here..? 
Rimskaya Crap... (throws rifle behind him)

skittle: nothing

Rimskaya: Oh.

(Goes to pick up rifle)

Then I take it we're done here? My ride is currently above us.

Skittle: No we still have some interview left 😅

Rimskaya: Ah, let us keep going then. The helicopter only has so much fuel.

Skittle: Okay, 8th question what do you like about the rp community? 
Rimskaya Concerning how it was for the majority of its existence, it was a hopeful attempt at creating something coherent and creative, that could give life to a section of Orbis, and formulate the beginnings of bulletins as a regularly used means of communication and news, perhaps not on a level like Discord, but certainly more than it is now.

What I could like about it was the few people in their desperate attempts to keep the community sane and inclusive. They have my eternal respect, unless of course they commit to otherwise that should deny them that distinction.

Skittle: Ah, question 9! What’s your favorite bulletin? 
Rimskaya: Oh Good Trotsky... I could never properly decide on one... I could name the stories of the Insurgency, the news of the OOW, Rimskaya's many news publications of our history, concurrent events, global politics and analysis, The Weekly Marxist when that was a thing...

I'm afraid I do not have a definite answer to this, and I probably never will.

Skittle: Ah, okay number 10, what’s your opinion on me?

Rimskaya: I'm not sure I have one from much prior, but the fact you have committed to this task of perpetuating the old community simultaneously is perhaps paving the way for its rebirth or recreation; with new elements, including old and new, or being mostly old, one cannot know.

So I applaud you in what knowledge I have of you.

Skittle: tank you!

Rimskaya: No. Tank YOU!

(Rimskayan MBT casually knocks down the north wall of the room)

Skittle: god dammit that’s a new wall!

Question 11 how did you find politics and war?

Rimskaya: It was in December 2020, having been thoroughly scrubbed by the Pandemic, I looked for something new. At the time, I was not yet a radical in any IRL sense, but I founded Rimskaya as an ideal alternate-history of the region it resides in. I managed for a little while, but the lack of alliances with optional Discord meant I was quickly ganged-up on, and decided to quit- but not delete Rimskaya. I'm glad I did not.

Skittle: Ah lol, yea literally castle Camelot is the only alliance that doesn’t require discord that’s big but it sucks lol. Question 12 what your biggest achievement?

Rimskaya: Beyond a doubt, the foundation of Aequitas. It began as a return project, little more than a !@#$, and now it holds a respectable place in the top 100 alliances.

It is Rimskaya's greatest achievement, and so far her epitome on the world stage.

Skittle: congrats! 13th question, how did you find this game?

Rimskaya: Other than just looking up a nation-building game, I believe I was originally introduced to P&W by Drew Durnil, the YouTuber. That's jst my memory though, and I could be wrong.

Skittle: Ah I think after his video the community doubled (I found his video a little after I joined) 

Rimskaya: The Power of YouTube man. I think he did one on NationStates and the subsequent traffic ended up crashing the site.

Skittle: Lol, 14th question have you played any other games like this? (Yk nation states, and that other one I forgot the name of) 

Rimskaya: As a matter of fact I did play NationStates for a while, but the lack of activities in-game kinda drew me away from it, mainly lacking any deeper political or war mechanics. Not saying I would attack anyone, Rimskaya and my NationStates country are very similar to each other.

Skittle: ah, and final question!! How did you like this interview?

Rimskaya: 11/10 would answer again :D
