“History of New Valyria"

Greetings, with this being the first document published by the New Valyrian Citadel of studies, history, science, and astrophysics; it is my honor to write this first historical record on the events of the last sixty days; which for me has been a very long time after all things considered. I would like to thank you citizens of the world for taking the time to read my work and it is my utmost prayer that this work of non fiction and brief historical accounting be as accurate as possible. Thank you.

The measurement of time is something that in between universes or multiverses is truly a topic of insurmountable odds for any mind to truly comprehend. Was it a few years? Millions of years? Or only a few seconds? For some of us it might have been one and for others it might be something else. But what can be ascertained, is that time, no matter how long or how far, passes for all of us.

The Valyrian Freehold was founded long ago in a different multiverse on the continent of Essos. It is unknown at the time of writing this if the world in which I was born is the same time period and place as this current one in which I inhabit and is simply on a different and previously unknown continent or is taking place at a different time far into the future or even a different world altogether. This may be a question that we will never discover the truth to and be able to answer with any certainty.

At its apex, and at its time, the Freehold's capital, Valyria, was the greatest city in the known world, the center of civilization, culture, and learning.

The Doom of Valyria was a cataclysmic event recorded in the year 7799 ATN, after which the city Valyria was utterly destroyed by unknown causes and the Valyrian Freehold crumbled and was no more. The Doom fragmented the land surrounding the city itself into numerous smaller islands, creating the Smoking Sea between them. The area was described as "demon-haunted", and most people were afraid to go there, as all known expeditions to the shattered peninsula had ended up in failure.

During the Doom of Valyria the great Dragonlord Tiberius Aurion took 10,000 soldiers and marched home to the Valyrian peninsula to restore order and inadvertently we traveled to 21st century earth. Quickly adopting the use of “firearms” the now considered ancient Dragonlord of Old Valyria united many of the scattered survivors of old America and claims to seek to build a new world order based on the legacy of the old Valyrian Freehold.

Almost 60 days from the date of Dragonlord Tiberius Aurions arrival onto the North American continent; his army stumbled onto a abandoned US military base and they quickly became familiar with firearms and other modern weaponry. The sight of his winged dragon put the fear of the God’s into the local American people who for the first time truly believed that this was the coming of their Armageddon. The Valyrian dragonlord had his soldiers provide food and water to the locals and desposed of the local bandits ruling the local villages and after being informed of the anarchic situation in this new world called “Earth” he was acclaimed by his soldiers as the first Triarch of a New Valyrian Freehold and pledged to restore order to this new world and to bring fire and blood to any who oppose him and his people and the will of the Valyrian God’s Balerion the God of Law and Order, Meraxes the Goddess of fertility, Caraxes the God of Labor and riches, Morghul the God of the underworld, Syrax the Goddess of the maiden and mothers, Tessarion the God of loyalty and honor, and Vermithor the God of war and destruction. Except for the first listed, the Valyrian pantheon does not rank any of these deities above one another or in any particular order.

The people of America soon learned the Valyrian State does not care for “race” or skin tone. Anyone who proves himself by merit can rise to the highest echelons in the freehold. Eight cities came to be resettled by this new nation during this time period and the people who bent the knee and willingly joined were given the freedom of all the other citizens of the Republic and became citizens with the right to stand for elections and to vote; but for those who resisted the dragon’s fury were killed or enslaved to work in the mines that fuel New Valyria’s new rise in this very chaotic and alien world.

To better the economic standing of his new nation that he claimed would last for more then a thousand years from now, the anointed Triarch of the New Valyrian Freehold joined the United Commerce Republic trade bloc and works to improve the economic interests of all Valyrian citizens and to better their lives. During the first few days after joining the URC trade bloc the alliance was attacked by raiders and bandit groups collectively referring to themselves as the “Space Invaders” During the first few days of fighting the Valyrian Imperial Armed forces proved itself a capable member of the UCR alliance and established Air superiority and a naval blockade over many enemy cities and obliterated the remaining Air Forces in the large region and struck the naval ships and tanks under one of the bandit warlords. After days of heavy fighting and with victory in sight the Triarch rode atop his dragon and incinerated over 7000 enemy soldiers within 30 minutes during the climatic battle. Several hours later a nuclear device was detonated by the bandit groups near the city of New Valyria; killing tens of thousands of men, women, and children, and destroying millions of dollars worth of homes, buildings and equipment and many animals.

Shortly afterward the pirates received a massive counterattack by other member states of the UCR and nuclear retaliatory attacks against the bandit warlords territory, a ceasefire was negotiated by the Dominion alliance who have close relations with the UCR and fought with bravery during the conflict; after the negations took place some of the pirate vassal cities broke away from the Space Invaders and joined other peaceful nations that instead of extorting these troubled populations will help them focus on promoting trade and commerce among all people and all nations by lifting the tyranny and oppressive rule of the Space Invader bandits from their shoulders.

With it only being 60 days since the Dragonlord of Old Valyria arrived in this new land, his mark has already been made on this world by proving the old Valyrian proverb “When war begins the God’s make hell bigger.” Only time will tell what other stories and tale are written.
