This week has been busy in politics as many of the major and minor parties have held their primaries to choose the future of their party.
This past week all parties with internal currents have held their primaries. Let's analyze their votes.
Again the PFR was the first to hold its vote. Once a major party within the radical wing it has lost its place to PSU, falling into the least voted parties. The resurgence that was hoped for by the electors of Irinas Bava, evidently, seems to not have occurred. Despite this she continues to lead the party with 55% of the votes in favour of her and the moderate wing, an increase from the past 51%. The biggest increase however was for the Radicals who rose to 24%, surpassing the hardliners who drastically fell to 21% of the vote.
This is no doubt a victory for the moderate wing of the party, while the more radical wings are split, albeit it seems like within the party a shift as happened to ward more moderate views.
The second party, both to hold primaries and in terms of vote share, is the PSU. Having passed their electoral reform they've been in the government in the past 2 terms via the d'Hont method they proposed themselves. However, since the last primaries which elected the confederalist Maximus Alemicus the party has experienced a slow but steady decline. For this reason Maximus Alemicus announced he wouldn't run and instead endorsed Margrita Savans, another known confederalist. This endorsement seem to have worked, as she won the party primary with 54%, maintaining the success of her predecessor. As for the other wings it would seem some votes shifted from the communists to the syndicalists but no major change happened.
The third party to hold its primaries is PCD. Once founders of the republic, now a minor party, PCD continues to be led by the radical wing of Antonium Canalus, with 72% of the vote.
CDD, democratic counterpart of PCD, also held its primaries this week. Ever since their founding with the Compromesso Storico the party has been in a steady decline which have now made it the last party in terms of vote share. Perhaps as a result of this the reformist wing, despite still leading the party with 79%, has lost a lot of the votes to the traditionalists.
Perhaps also a result of their proposal to criminalize ecoterrorism, it seems their voters have shifted to the more radical wing.
IR, 4th biggest party, went to the vote choosing between the Social Democrats and Social Liberals. While the SocDems continue leading the party at 83%, a notable shift has been observed with the Social Liberals gaining more and more votes.
Analysts theorize this could be a result of the stagnation within the party's vote share.
Lastly, DH. While still a minor party DH experienced a steady growth in the past few elections, potentially making it one of the parties to keep an eye out for in the future. Despite this, or perhaps because of this, the vote share has moved away from the Right Harambists and the Federalists and more towards the Left Harambist. Nonetheless the Right Harambists maintain a solid 76% majority.
