Martin ap Daniel will remain Labour leader after winning the leadership election triggered by Harold Saxon.

The Labour Party Chairman announced today the following result:

On a turnout of 87.2% of party members (87,000):

  1. Martin ap Daniel - 46,981 (54%)
  2. Harold Saxon - 40,019 (46%)

Following the result, the President released this statement:

"The witch hunt by Labour backbenchers has been thwarted. The public have once again put their faith in my government.

We will continue to fight and work for meaningful changes to people's lives"

Despite this the closeness of the result has highlighted the division in the party and with the local elections in less than a month, the President will have a lot of work to do to show that he has the support of his party.

Harold Saxon released the following statement:

"I would like to thank everyone that worked on my campaign and for the 40 thousand people that voted for me.

I ask the party now to fall behind Martin ap Daniel for the next 12 months. We need unity"

The Liberal Stonecrats have called the election a "farse" with the Sawhist Leader calling for "immediate changes"
