Good evening, Luna. This is Isak Sorensen, reporting for the Lunar Post, and I am here in Arcadia tonight in a scene of chaos and uncertainty.
The Lunar government, led by highly controversial President Sadie O'Keefe, has been ousted by military forces from Luna and the United Kingdom of the Mediterranean upon the discovery of evidence of the administration's corruption and conspiracy with an currently unknown outside group with the intent to harm the processes of the Lunar democracy.
Security cameras showed proof of O'Keefe discussing with this unknown group regarding allowing them control over the Lunar economy, and further investigation revealed plans to allegedly drug citizens of most major Lunar cities and cause further falsification of political data.
Approximately one hour ago, the presidential office was stormed by the force and several prominent officials were escorted out of the building and arrested, including O'Keefe and Vice President Jasper Larsen. The military group allegedly worked to avoid civilian casualties and unnecessary violence; however, a shootout broke out between security and the entering group, causing ten injuries and two deaths. President O'Keefe is currently in an Arcadia hospital in recovery from minor injuries sustained during the gunfight; however, limited information is available regarding plans for after her recuperation.
In a state of political instability, military rule has temporarily been declared within the Republic of Luna; the nation is currently under the control of both the Lunar military and Lucraian military officers stationed in the nation for peacekeeping purposes, and all available information currently points to plans to hold another election to determine who will lead the nation after the quick downfall of the corrupt O'Keefe administration.
Lunar Army Commander-in-Chief Flynn Radcliffe is giving an address to Arcadia to explain the situation.
"We understand that this is a state of disorder and many citizens may not know what's going on or how to proceed. Although not all details can yet be divulged, I can say for certain that democracy will be restored and this rampant corruption will be rooted out and removed from our government. We are working to find who is involved in the group attempting to tamper with the Lunar democracy, and will ensure that we are able to sort out the situation shortly. Please remain calm; we will provide further instructions and information as this situation develops."
