Harold Saxon is hoping for a party members petition to hit 15%
The President's Foreign Secretary, Harold Saxon has resigned from his post today and called for a leadership challenge before the summer's Parliamentary elections.
The following statement was released on his social media:
"while I am extremely proud of the government's record over the past 3 years, the last few months have been mistakes after mistakes. This country is now a laughing stock on the global stage and therefore I believe we must now actively look to repair our image by electing a new leader of the party.
I acknowledge that the party cannot force the President to resign his post, but I believe any man of integrity would resign if he is ousted as leader of the national Labour Party.
I have formally written to the party chairman and the leadership petition is now up and running. I urge all party members to sign this petition so we can ensure that we can work to rebuild our party and our country's image".
The leadership petition needs 15% of party members to sign in order to trigger a leadership election. The current President would still be able to run in any potential leadership election.
The President released this statement:
"Harold Saxon has been a well respected member of the Foreign Office and will be deeply missed on the team. He ensured peace between Gwlad Emrys and Maerrunoria and worked tirelessly to ensure a fair image on the global stage. I will appoint a new Foreign Secretary this afternoon and will continue working for the good of the people of this country".
The leader of the Liberal Stoneacrats called the developments a "farse" and the Sawhist leader, Matshaa, said the news "throws our country into instability".
