Today the resident high priests of Abyssianism took to the tombs for a ceremony known throughout Gehinnom as the 'Silent Rite.' During this ritual, the priests take a temporary vow of silence as they enter a tomb or catacombs to pray for the duration of a hardship, such as war or famine.

The priests will not reveal the subject of their petition to the Lord until after the Rite has concluded, leaving many Gehins puzzled as to the reason for their departure into the places of burial. The Silent Rite is not a light or common event, and is often reserved for the most intense situations. Many Gehins have taken to joining their priestly brothers in prayer and fasting, though this is not considered an actual part of the Rite itself.

Before taking his vow, High Priest Joseph Himmel had this to say before his departure:

"Our supplication has begun, and it shall not end for many days. Pray with us, that we might see the Will of God made manifest within our borders."

Gehinnom has observed a rather quiet day as many take their time at home to reflect on what is to come.
