This past week various parties have held congresses and primaries among their registered members to elect their new leaderships, which in turn would shape the future of European Politics. Let's analyze each party's congress.

Partito Femminista Radicale

The PFR was the first to hold its primaries. During the last re-election they failed to pass the electoral threshold for the first time in history, proving a need for change within the party if it wants to stay relevant. Debates were intense as the radical feminists would have to choose between 3 candidates: Irinas Bava, representing the moderate wing, Tatianas Mirtas, representing the radical wing that has so far dominated the party, and Sara Dalios, representing the hardliner wing.

In the end, Irinas Bava won wwith 51% of the vote.

These results indicate a fairly split party, with most losing faith with the former radicals, the majority choosing instead a more moderate approach, while a significant portion chose an even more radical choice. Nonetheless, whether or not the voters will reward or punish this change remains to be seen.

Partito Socialisti Uniti

The second party to hold a primary is the head of opposition, the PSU. As per usual 3 candidates were available between the communists, syndicalists and confederalists. In the end, Maximus Alemicus of the confederalists won with 53%.

Similiarly to PFR, it appears that the PSU is split between the confederalists and the communists, while the syndicalists seem to have collapsed. Perhaps a result of a weak candidate or perhaps a loss of faith in syndicalism?

Partito dei Cipressi Dorati

The last of the radicals to hold a primary was PCD, which had to choose between the moderates or the radicals. With a whopping 76%, the PCD members chose Antonium Canalus, a radical within the party.

Despite a significant minority still voted for the moderate wing it appears clear the party is mostly united towards the radical wing of the party.

Cipressi Dorati Democratici

The counterpart to PCD, CDD is the only party among the governing coalition to hold a primary. The main issue being discussed is that of climate warriors, which is one that sees the traditionalist wing at odds with the reformist wing. Indeed today their members were presented within a choice between the two, and with an astonishing 91% the reformists have elected Laura Safae as the leader of the party.

Such a strong showing by the reformists was unexpected, perhaps coming from the recent decrease in influence the party has experienced during the recent elections which saw it fall to a minor party. With the reformists winning the CDD and the radicals winning PCD, it seems the two golden cypresses have drifted apart completely.

I Radicali

This week was also the first primary ever for the liberals. Having to choose between Francesca Sarmat, a social democrat who has had experience campaigning for PSD, or Marcus Giobertus, a social liberal who has long campaigned, even illegally, for more economic freedoms. Nonetheless IR chose Sarmat, with a strong 95%.

Could this move to the left signal a more open collaboration with the government regarding certain issues?

Democrazia Harambista

The last party to hold a primary this week was DH.  It is no secret that DH is split into three currents: the Left Harambists, the Right Harambists and the Federalists. And with another strong 90% Giacomus Coronius won the secretariat of the party for the Right Harambists.

Consolidating DH as the center-right party of European Nutella.
