Is Orbis Approaching a Global Economic Crisis?

Considering Friday is our scheduled date for attempt 2 at nuclear war, I should discuss this now. I came to this whilst writing my resignation speech as the First Commsident of Aequtias.

In this speech, I stated:

"Capital in Orbis is infinitely expanding, and therefore prices are as well, however, this capital will inevitably, without intervention, fall into the hands of the ruling factions, further polarizing Orbis."

I took upon some further thought to this, and came to a frightening realization:

WHAT I SAID IS COMEPLETELY TRUE.

Money is minted in EVERY country in Orbis on a 2-hour-I-I-MEAN-daily basis (Enough fourth wall breaks for today), and therefore, the amount of capital in Orbis is expanding infinitely with every passing day. And indeed, in time, as the amount of money in the world grows, so will the price of goods to reflect that.

In a word, Orbis has a hyperinflation crisis.

For those who are around when this begins to take real hold, it may not be a huge impact: and the bureaucratic alliances will simply sit through it, more than likely facilitating it. What better way to increase membership than an economic system that makes being in a powerful alliance necessary for survival?

But any new nations to Orbis will find themselves in a detrimental situation. They have limited monetary capability as a young state, and all the prices on the market for resources to build their new state will be beyond their reach.

So join said alliances, cry they themselves! But what of them? Endless warfare for an increasingly polarized and economically destroyed world, further intoxicating Orbis into the oblivion that spells its death- a dark age.

So what can resolve this dilemma?

The printing of money as far as we know is impossible to stop, and the incessant spending of it all would pose the risk of a death spiral into poverty even more generally, whilst those with the most money to spend at the top would only reinforce their positions further by doing so.

Therefore the best possible solution presentable is that of egalitarianism: the regulation of prices and distribution of mass funds and money to the masses by the bureaucracy- by any means necessary.

The rise of prices generally can only be averted by a general consensus to set a limit on them. Such would require an elected governing body to set those prices.

My ministers have already presented to me the far-fetched idea of an "Orbis International Congress", a way for all alliances to collectively discuss about the issues facing Orbis, limit war, and promote economic equality.

This alliance-congress would only be legally binding as per the consensus of the other member alliances. A central council would be created, but be subject to the approval and consent of the other members to hold such positions of high power.

As for warfare, the intervention of the alliance-congress would be initially strictly diplomatic, as peacekeeping forces would only stoke the conflict further. Also therein would be a charter outlining the principles of the union, and a declaration of the rights of the individual state as an existing entity in Orbis.

Though this idea is obviously beyond Rimskaya alone, especially considering our non-presence on Discord would make this beyond our ability to coordinate, it is one I have taken to heart, and introduced to one of our allies. If anyone with genius in diplomacy would like to take up the idea on our behalf, by all means do so.

It may be for the survival of Orbis and all within it that you do so.

Now this isn't the formal Weekly Marxist, so I won't leave you with a proper outro, so instead, the International Anthem of Rimskaya. Good day comrades and non, see you for Week 6.

This has to be the dumbest thing you’ve ever talked about. Its clear to me you dont understand a dime about PnW’s market nor alliance politics smh

Its in your better interest to stop talking about it before you get clowned hard

NRI I respect you but I’ll be fully honest I stopped reading when you said the solution is “egalitarianism“. Personally I hate it when those who think like you believe that they have the solution to everything. I’m sure way smarter people have attempted such a thing, not to say your not smart, and have failed. Something like that is nearly impossible and would require such a mass consensus to work. Also the claim that the printing of money in Orbis will lead to hyperinflation is true… if you choose to look at Orbis 200 years from now. You have some solid claims but personally i believe the solution needs some work.

You know what?
Though I respect all of you, especially you RoManic, this is one instance where I shall respond with a simple,

F*ck you all.

Alright mini-rant concluded. If you all want to give a BETTER solution instead of going on about why mine is a load of crap, then be my guest. If not, then you have no right to say that this isn't a plausible methodology.

I don't bring this stuff forward out of the insanity that I already know plagues my daily life. I don't need reminders about how awful my philosophies are; I get those all the time from elsewhere.

But if you also want to sit and watch Orbis burn in glee, then that works out fine too. Not my problem. There's always NationStates to go back to anyways.

For this, until I see the day where this system, even on a smaller scale, if followed through to the exact detail, fails spectacularly, then I WILL NOT concede it's supposed "inevitable failure".

Would almost make sense if the only purpose of money wouldn’t be to then burn it on infrastructure, cities, projects, units or war itself.

Everytime a resource is traded on the market for money the seller either saves that money to be burnt on a later war or spends it straight away to make more money to burn on growth and have a stronger position in a later war.

Add on top of the fact that not all alliances are these heartless capitalist overlords you make them out to be and if they are caught trying to make a hegemony, they will be fucked up by other alliances, see “The Big $hort” as an example of alliances intervening due to finding other alliances to be shitty.
