On March 20, 2066, Admiral Christian Nimitz was awarded the Order of Freedom Medal, which is considered the highest military honor inside of the United Imperium. But how did Nimitz get to this point? We have to start with his basic training, when his instructors at the Roosevelt Academy of Naval Excellence immediately noticed him for his strategic brilliance, especially in regards to Naval combat on shallow waters. Noting his lack of physical stature, the Academy decided to place him in an officer's training program, and in time, he rapidly rose to Captain of the United Imperium Naval Ship (UINS) Theodore Roosevelt. At this point, Nimitz saw his first combat in a decisive victory over Neirotopia at the Battle of the Amazon Delta. His strategic excellence in following battles in the Foreign Raids would see him become the leader of the United Imperium Navy just four days later. And so his most challenging battle would arrive to face Nimitz: The Battle of Cannes, against the Kingdom of Brunswick. While at first, 8 ships against two seems like something that can be easily won, the Brunswickians had artillery all along the French coast, making the battle more progressively challenging to win. By sending their two massive destroyers out to the edges of the channel and having the artillery units focus on the middle of the battle, the UIN was in danger of losing all of it's ships. But Admiral Nimitz had an ace up his sleeve: two aircraft carriers, with 10 aircraft on each. Virtually all of these aircraft were multirole aircraft, meaning that Nimitz could send some out to run bombing campaigns and send other aircraft to run interference against the artillery. So two campaigns were launched-the first, a bombing run that went around the destroyer's guns and missiles in order to hit the artillery on the coast, and the second, a direct assault on the destroyers themselves. The attack was an immense triumph, and both the artillery and navy of Brunswick were effectively finished by the heroism of the United Imperium and her naval commander, Admiral Christian Nimitz
