Repairs on the colony of New Guinea -- now under Lunar control -- are commencing at a rapid rate, far faster than expected. Many attribute this to the good conditions for workers on the island, including captured Dreamistani soldiers, who are being offered safe conditions despite being enemies of the nation.
However, some controversy has arisen over Luna's treatment of the soldiers, especially after the unspeakable acts of tyranny committed on our smaller coastal towns. The number of casualties in the devastating attack is currently unknown, though numbers are estimated to be high. Some claim that the only way to avenge the deaths of those lost in these attacks is to rather brutally kill the captured Dreamistani soldiers in New Guinea; however, others feel that the Dreamistani government was to blame for this attack and that soldiers who had no involvement with this specific battle should not be punished for the actions of their country.
The eventual decision -- after a very close Parliamentary vote -- was that the soldiers would remain in their current conditions, though further offensive actions would be taken against Dreamistan, including an invasion.
Lunar pilots launched a massive bombing of Dreamistan, utilizing both aircraft flying in from Luna and those stationed in New Guinea and targeting military bases as to avoid a potential retaking of the colony. After the bombing, Lunar troops entered and focused on the destruction of military bases; stockpiles of gasoline and munitions were also destroyed or looted, though unlike the recent Dreamistani attack, this was intentionally coordinated in a way that minimized civilian casualties, and civilians were not at all targeted.
This first phase of the attack was a Pyrrhic victory for the Lunar side, as, due to the nature of the battle, having a military target as opposed to a civilian one, there were more Lunar casualties than in prior attacks. The Dreamistani military put up a good fight and was able to overpower Lunar forces, almost pushing us out of the nation completely.
However, the tides of the battle changed when a second wave of Lunar forces entered, setting fire to three military bases and ravaging massive stockpiles of munitions necessary for tanks, guns and more. Small-scale EMP bombs were used to destroy aircraft and tanks in military bases. Altogether, these reinforcements allowed Luna a victory in this battle.
Civilian casualties are estimated to be low, as the primary purpose of the attack was to incapacitate the Dreamistani military, not to hurt innocent people; however, President Cressida Arpina has warned the Dreamistani government that further crimes against the people of Luna may result in more nuclear weapons or perhaps even other tactics that could further harm the Dreamistani populace.
