Disaster!

In what can only be described as a crime against humanity, and a blow against the nation itself, terrorists have detonated a nuclear device in Mixhaw's industrial district. The explosion ranged in the hundreds of kilotons, and has laid waste to much of the city, with almost half of the war-weary city being engulfed in nuclear fire. It is unknown how many casualties there are, but current estimates range in the tends to hundreds of thousands. Emergency services across the nation have unexpectedly joined forces to combat the flames, radiation, and rescue any remaining survivors. The city has been evacuated, an an exclusion zone stretching one hundred miles outside of the epicenter has been established by local health officials.

It is unknown which group is primarily responsible for the nuclear device's appearance in the hands of terrorists, but fingers readily point towards those groups who consider themselves a conglomeration of notable 'piratical' groups around the world. Due to the explosion emanating from Mixhaw's profitable manufacturing district, it has been proposed by several prominent media influencers that the device was smuggled in by the use of Orsallian extremists and coal shipments from outside nations. This has seen increased tensions among the Falridians and Orsallians, and law enforcement has been put on high alert in the event of civil unrest.

As this only comes from the first months after Falridia joined with other nations in attacking this conglomeration, this has led to many outcries in the Senate in opposition to continued aggression in this 'war on piracy', as some senators have deemed to call it. The Senate has been assembled in Penterghast to deal with the crisis, with President Brooks exercising his role as Commander-in-Chief to establish martial law in Penterghast itself.

Once again, the emergency has opinions split across party lines. For once, President Brooks and the Trentonians find themselves backed into a wall, with two main coalitions forming against the government's continued support of the war. One group, comprised of Freedom Firsters and the Citizen's Front, has advocated for ending the offensives spearheaded by Falridian troops and to have them return home. Instead, they wish for Falridia's forces to remain at home to prevent against further attacks.

Adversely, the Justice Party and Solidarists have unexpectedly united to campaign for a complete end to the war, with demands being levied on the government to provide ransom for Falridian prisoners of war and payments made to groups in exchange for future protection from further attacks. While it is a controversial opinion, and has met stiff resistance on the Senate floor, there is a significant portion of Falridia's population concentrated in the urban cities that has agreed with their senators on their stance.

All that can be said for certain is that as it stands, Falridia will be reeling from this attack for years to come. Whether it be the radiation or political fallout, nothing will remain the same in our nation in the future.
