Lately, citizens of the United Imperium have been noticing a decline in food production, despite the joint efforts of President Lincoln and the opposition-led Congress. And the government has done a decent job of preventing pollution and improving the nation's infrastructure (at least in Springfield, where food production is the heart of the town's economy).  However, food production continues to struggle. An independent study revealed that radiation levels were atrociously high in the region, almost 50 percent higher than the global average. Leaders in the Legislature have been quick to call for a reduction in the use of these devastating weapons, something that the President is expected to reinforce at his press briefing on the nation today.
