Cressida Arpina's Inaugural Speech

After the landslide victory of Cressida Arpina (78% of the population) in the presidential elections, the newly-elected leader has given her inaugural speech as follows.

To the people of Luna, I understand that this has been a difficult time, as we know that a beloved leader is gone, another has left the nation, and these past few days have been nothing but utter chaos as the three of us try to come to any sort of an agreement despite our differences in beliefs.

We had no intent to push this election forward; all three of us candidates were unprepared and, frankly, nervous — I was panicking about how the people would respond to our attempts to return to normalcy; it was one of the few things that we could agree upon.

To Maximus Democraticus and all of Rimskaya, we appreciate your standing by us in these hard times. We appreciate you being our closest and most loyal allies, even when it's just the two of us against the rest of the world. Emperor Democraticus, you were there for us when Aquilla was first imprisoned, and you offered all the support you could when we were being ravaged by biological weapons, and for all this, and your everyday kindness towards us and our nation, we thank you.

To the rest of Orbis, both our allies and enemies in this war, mark this as a new day. Beginning today, we will not stand down in the face of tyranny and we will not let good, innocent people who have done everything they can to help the world fall to the hands of the enemy. The fate that faced Lily Aquilla is not one we will see happening to another human being on this planet. She put everything she could into liberating the people of this nation, even her life in the end.

I offer my condolences to the families and friends of everyone lost in this war, be they enemies or allies — we have received information that Keni Oka may be dead, as well as the confirmed death of Theodore Gauthier and many other casualties in this conflict. I also would like to offer my condolences to our Vice President, Aurelia Aquilla, for the death of her sister.

We understand it may be far too late for peace, and we are a nation that has known war and lived through it. We know how to weather a storm and come back stronger on the other side. We have faced eight nuclear weapons, many attacks, biological weapons and more, but in the end, we — and our allies— will prevail together. 

I look forward to leading this nation as the President, and know this: even if these times are hard, even if we have to fight through massive forces, we will come out still standing on the other side. We will always be there to support our citizens and our allies.
