It is now official: After stunning heavy election favorite Rysander Regan, Tristan Roosevelt has become the new President of the United Imperium, succeeding George Delano Lincoln as the proverbial man in the chair. The victory is monumental, as it is the first time in the fifteen-year history of the United Imperium (as a sovereign nation) that President George Lincoln will not be in charge of the nation. As Roosevelt is a member of the Liberal Party, it is also the first time that they will be in charge of the executive branch. Let's take a look at how Roosevelt got to his position, and let's see how his policies compare to his predecessors and contemporaries.

In order to understand Roosevelt's unexpected rise to power, we have to understand his background. Born to a lower-middle-class family, Roosevelt excelled academically, logging a 4.3 GPA in high school, learning to quickly speak 4 languages (English, Spanish, Korean, and Mandarin), and leaving academics as a high school valedictorian. He would then graduate from Villa de Liberty Law School, where he would begin his political career. At first, it was uneventful, with Roosevelt losing back-to-back mayoral campaigns. Roosevelt would then lose a gubernatorial campaign for the Wisconsin municipality. He would briefly leave politics, focusing instead on the law.

And it would be here that Roosevelt would prove his strength, as he dominated the courts at every level. At one point, he would even successfully prosecute three back-to-back cases at the Supreme Court, garnering him national attention. This gave him the ammunition to launch his Presidential Campaign. As a floundering Liberal Party scrambled for answers to compete with the rising Unitarians and powerful Conservatives, Roosevelt would change the focus of the Party entirely, shifting away from leftist economics and identity politics and towards natural conservation, global interventionism, and Classical Liberal ideology. This made Roosevelt very popular with the American people. However, as the election progressed, his main rival, Rysander Regan, would also prove to be extremely popular. However, in a stunning twist, many of the original supporters of Regan would switch to supporting Roosevelt after Regan would get into a fistfight on the Senate Floor with fellow Senator J.J. McClane.

As a result, Roosevelt would take the election. So far, he has promised to incorporate more National Parks into the territories of the United Imperium, participate more actively in global politics (even promising to send more troops to the Elysian Civil War), and create anti-trust legislation for the economy. This makes him slightly to the left of Lincoln, although compared to his fellow Liberal, he is much more conservative. This is especially in comparison to 2075 Liberal candidate Betty Shostakovich.

The issue of the greatest interest to the American people, by poll, is the National Parks. Roosevelt's plan for the parks is twofold: first, work out joint management agreements with allied nations that also hold national parks, such as the Rocky Mountain Republic for management of Glacier Park, and Nova Cyberia for management of Yosemite and Crater Lake. The second part of the plan is to incorporate more national parks in the homeland, such as Voyageur National Park, Alpine National Park, and North Shore National Park.

Finally, Roosevelt has expressed an interest in the creation of world wonders. For example, while the United Imperium lays claim to the Statue of Liberty (PWRO Map), Roosevelt wishes to truly put the Imperium on the map, because in his opinion, the mark of a nation's success is in their cultural legacy. As a result, Roosevelt plans to build statues and other various wonders of the world dedicated to Liberty, Democracy, and those values that which we hold dear.

Though perhaps unexpected, the arrival of President Tristan Roosevelt is sure to herald a significant changing of the guard in the history of the United Imperium. If his Presidency goes to plan, we can expect the United Imperium to become a cultural juggernaut, a nation of tremendous global influence, and also a nation that attracts not just those looking for a better life, but also those who wish to see extraordinary sights.
