What is the nation planning?
After years of rebuilding, the Dutch-speaking South American country is seeing unprecedented economic and military growth. Experts are not sure what to make of this, but are cautiously waiting to see what the country's next steps are. Suriname's government has recently made some very provocative international moves, such as embargoing the neighboring nation of Guyana and rumored deadly spy operations in historical enemies of the state.
Is Suriname leading down the path to war? For the sake of every Surinamer from Paramaribo to New Amsterdam, I hope not. The citizenry are tired and enjoying newly-found economic prospects not before seen in the South American country. Suriname is at a crossroads -- Will it go back to the history of war that has defined Jarrett's presidency? Or will Suriname enter a new era of peace and stability? We can only wait and see.
