MAJOR changes are coming to the executive branch of the Republic of Shelley Island!

President DMO has signed several pieces of legislation that will bring some big changes to the executive branch.

The first piece of legislation that the president signed, entitled the “Department of the Interior and Environment Reorganization Act,” establishes a separate department called the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)  and shifts all environment-related bureaus and offices within the Department of the Interior and Environment (DOIE) to the newly established department. The legislation dictates that the department will be headed by a secretary, whose official title will be the Secretary of Environmental Protection, and will be given permanent cabinet status. The now-defunct Department of the Interior and Environment will be renamed the Department of the Interior and at its head will be the renamed Secretary of the Interior. Since the Department of the Interior and Environment is simply being renamed, the current secretary of the interior and environment will simply take on the title of secretary of the interior, whereas, since the department of environmental protection is new, the president will announce a nominee for secretary of environmental protection.

The next piece of legislation, the “Department of Small Business Affairs Organization Act,” will expand the responsibilities of the Small Business Affairs Agency (SBAA) and elevate it to permanent cabinet status. This elevation comes with a name change, going from the Small Business Affairs Agency to the Department of Small Business Affairs. Since this is largely a name change, there will be no new nominees announced for the department and the current SBAA director will be renamed the Secretary of Small Business Affairs

The final piece of legislation, the “National Intelligence Act,” establishes the position of Director of National Intelligence. This individual will serve as the head of the Intelligence Community and as a key intelligence advisor to the president. As this is a new role, the president will announce a nominee.

At the signing ceremony for these pieces of legislation, the president announced that he will be announcing his nominees for the newly-created positions on Monday.

In addition to this, the president also announced that he is elevating the following positions to cabinet level:

Permanent Representative of Shelley Island to the United Nations

Director of National Intelligence

Chair of the National Council of Economic Advisors

All changes are effective August 1.
