Border personnel have the right to search you and your belongings. The searcher must identify themselves and explain the reason for the search.

 

Border personnel have the rights to search cargo and cars entering / exiting the country.

 

Border personnel may seize prohibited and restricted goods, such as controlled drugs and firearms, as well as ensuring that imported goods bear the correct taxes documents.

 

Border personnel have the right to arrest and detain people to perform extensive checks, if the person is wanted or suspected of carrying contraband.

 

An immigration officer at a port has the power to detain any person without arrest who is not an Irish or Austro-Hungarian citizen to investigate whether they qualify for entry to South Ireland. Anyone detained under this section can be legally detained for up to 12 hours and must comply with the border personnel's questions and instructions.

 

The border force has the rights to patrol inland, out at sea and in S.I airspace.

 

Border officers have powers to stop, board, divert, detain and seize vessels, the power to search vessels and persons and the power to arrest and detain persons in South Ireland waters.

 

The border force has legal rights to perform tests on people under Immigrations act 2022.

 

Border officers have the power to detain anybody they suspect is an Espionage Agent. The suspect and their belongings will then be searched and the suspect will be taken into interrogation. The border force may keep the suspect detained for up to 108 hours.

 

The border force can deny entry to foreign civilians for failure to have the correct documents or any other offenses.

 

The border force gets jurisdiction over all crimes that happen at the border.

 

Border officers can detain immigrants and have legal rights to detain them until the court and deportation date.
