I sat down with the Prime Minister and Leader of the Liberal Party

Good morning Prime Minister. How's the campaign going so far?

It's going well. I've been out on the doorstep with campaigners and we've received a positive reaction which is exactly what we want.

You might have seen the leaked emails been released this morning. It shows you actively stopping your civil servants trying to arrange a meeting between you and Bourbon Street officials. Did this really happen?

I have seen the leaked emails and firstly I'd like to point out that in government we have worked extremely hard over the past few days. Changing alliance is always hard, and there's always the risk of tensions between leaders in these alliances....

No but Prime Minister, if that's the case why on earth did you refuse to arrange a meeting?

To set the record straight I never refused the idea of trying to arrange a discussion. At the exact time of the email I was in the middle of a cabinet meeting. Changing alliances causes a nation's economy to weaken and we had to urgently decide how to boost the economy. I did not put off the meeting indefinitely. The aim was always to have this discussion later on.

Ok then. Have you attempted to hold talks since?

Listen I can't possibly comment on matters that are not in the public domain. What's important is that we get on with the job of delivering for the people.

Prime Minister. You call yourself the party of Foreign Affairs, tough on threats. How can the people believe that if you can't even start to arrange a meeting with other nations?

If you look at our record throughout government, we have always stood for the people. We have always put the national interest first. Look at when we came into office, we had a civil war. We deescalated the situation and now we are in a good place.

The leader of the ARP are calling for an urgent enquiry and calling for you to withdraw from the election. Do you agree?

I don't think there needs to be an enquiry of any sort. What's been leaked is simply a small element of the internal workings of the government. And I tell the leader of the ARP, he has never had any experience of governance and should consider that before calling for an enquiry.

You also say your party is the party of a strong economy. Well official figures put our economy as one of the worst in Serene Repubblica Fiorentina. Would you like to rephrase your claim?

No I don't. The day I entered Downing Street there had been riots. Our country was occupied by a dozen other nations fighting for control. Our infrastructure was destroyed. There was a single note on my desk, saying the words "There is no money". That's the state the Labour government had left our country. This government has not stopped rebuilding and providing excellent public services while at the same time rebuilding our economy. Yes there's still room for improvement, and that's why it's so important for a continuation of a Liberal government.

Finally Prime Minister. Are you tough enough?

Did I crumble during the civil war. Did I ever at one moment miss a press conference. No. Am I tough enough? Hell yes.

Thank you Prime Minister
