Early this morning, Continental 9001 did a routine flight from Clermore to Camas, Flintes Capital. All international flights are terminated due to a recent virus outbreak, but domestic flights are still allowed. But thunderstorms rolled in that morning. 9001 had been scheduled to land at 5:44 in the morning, but at 6:23, the plane comes in to land. The landing is smooth, but all hell breaks loose as it overruns the runway. Of the 166 on board, only 23 are injured, 2 severely. Everyone miraculously survives.

NTSB Air Crash Investigators from Washington DC rush over to the site of the crash. The FDR (Flight Data Recorder) and CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder) are found pretty quickly. This case was almost open and shut. The investigators find that in their haste to put the plane down in the thunderstorm, the captain and the first officer both forgot to bring the spoilers up. Spoilers help slow the plane and put all the wheels on the ground. Landing on the shorter runway of Camas International Airport, the runway needs reverse thrust, brakes, and spoilers to be used.

NTSB is trying to work on training pilots to remember everything that needs to be done. One idea is to create a checklist in the cockpit.

This crash led to the fall of Continental Airlines. They were bought out by United Airlines, a rival.

Fly safe.
