(Cascadian Independence 2020 A.D-2025 A.D)
In 2021, the United States of America was successfully couped after an attack on the capitol on January 7th, 2021 after a series of riots conducted by supporters of the Democratic Party caused billions in damage in cities across the US in the year prior.

Before this happened, the people of the Pacific Northwest, seeing this, disgusted them, seeing as how the United States as they knew it, was fading away, and was close to destabilization and collapse. This would later put a more conservative, traditionalist spin on the Cascadian separatist movement. As the people of the PNW started to see what they had supported was causing division among common citizens, and after witnessing 46th President Joseph Biden's bad performance in the Oval Office, Cascadian separatism spiked, leading to propaganda posters like the ones seen below to pop up in most major cities of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

The PNW started to see the lack of efficiency in the two main political parties of the US, and from that point on, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and northern counties of California started to experience an increase in voters for independent candidates. But the US wouldn't officially collapse until summer 2022.

About a year later, on January 25th, 2022, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and northern California had declared independence from the United States under the name of the Dominion of Cascadia, two months later, western British Columbia would secede from Canada and join Cascadia, along with parts of southern Alaska.

Finally, in June 2022, the US Provisional Military Government fell, and without the power of the United States to balance the world, the rest of the world fell into chaos. By 2025, a global nuclear war happened and removed the little organization humanity still had at this point. The entire world broke apart into small warlord states competing for power. Even today, the world is split into thousands of governments. This was the Great Balkanization.

Post-Nuclear Reconstruction
As it happened, Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver were subject to missile strikes during the nuclear war, luckily, neither of the cities were worth spending a nuclear warhead on, but conventional warheads were used on the city, so much so that the cities would only have around 3-5 standing buildings that are over 250 ft. Complete reconstruction took around 20 years as more people started to move to the cities.

After some time, the Cascadian government retreated its borders to fit the Cascadia bioregion, surrendering parts of northeastern British Columbia and southern Oregon.

The Empty Years
This was a time period that stretched for years up until 2072, as most things during this time period remained unrecorded, and if not, undated.

Great Boom
After a series of Global Wars involving Cascadia's alliance, money was being focused on infrastructure in cities, leading to more shops and markets being build, leading to growth in national revenue, leading to more infrastructure, and repeating the cycle. This allowed for enough infrastructure to be built to also accommodate for the growing industrial sectors such as uranium, coal, iron, and agriculture.

Samuel Quakes & the eruption of Mt. Hood
The Samuel Quakes were a series of earthquakes that lasted for nearly 2 months ranging from magnitude 1.5 at it's lowest, and 7.1 at it's highest, it was an unexpected sign of what was to come, which was the 18 megaton eruption of Mt. Hood, which occurred on November 15th, 2075 at around 8:47 A.M, killing 492 people and injuring 4,000. It spewed ash clouds that blanketed two inches of ash over New Portland. Currently, New Portland is 80% uncovered from ash due to Operation Unhood, and will be the official capital again by March 22nd. Those ash clouds still do exist, and are over northern Sierra Nevada as of March 18th, 2076.
