This report is being published from our secondary location in Soque. The major cities of Kristophsi have taken a beating in the recent war effort, but have so far been kept at operating levels via the government's large savings. That was until this afternoon. At approximately 3:19 P.M. today, a midsized aircraft was spotted over the capital city of Brahte, escorted by a large squadron of fighters. Orders to land were met with silence, and intercepting Aerial Fleet forces were shot down. At 3:25 P.M., the aircraft and a portion of its escort began to descend, and at 3:28 P.M. an object was seen leaving the larger craft, after which the entire force dispersed. At 3:30 P.M., the object reached the ground and detonated in a significant nuclear blast.

Brahte was decimated by this blast. A quarantine zone was established within hours, and current numbers place the death toll in excess of 110,000. The military based in the area was largely unaffected due to its placement in the mountains, with the exception of the capital's garrison, which has been confirmed to have been completely wiped out.

An intercepted communication revealed the nation of origin to be the Kingdom of Latome, led by King Charles Marwick. In a strange move, King Marwick offered unconditional peace mere minutes after the detonation. In a recent speech, Consul Coruk said: "This is a dark day for Kristophsi. Latome didn't just take our capital, they took a piece of us. They took thousands, tens of thousands of our people. But rest assured, they did not take our spirit. They did not take our strength, our ability to persevere through hardship. King Marwick offers peace not for the common good, not out of some form of mercy, but out of his own cowardice. That's not a peace I'm willing to accept."

Coruk followed this up by dedicating an additional 10% of the national budget to the military, as well as launching a new offensive into Latome and constructing a silo at a secure site near the border. Sources in the military say that the government will be maintaining Defcon 2 until further notice.
