I know my home is a a thing of myth to men who live on the mainland in the great cities... Its windy out here and the folks are few. The moorland sweeps like quilt ....far off and meets the wide and deep blue sea.... crystal blue and twinkling under the Hebridean sun. The sky is big out  here... and sea swirls all around us....

I wake at 4am and look out from my window onto the gloomy moor.... my soul is free in this grey and forsaken land.... my heart has found its home. I cannot wait to go and start the farming day. My flock of wild sheep graze the land and gales howl with spirit.  - Charlie Hedger (1959)

This is the simple life... rustic and rural... This is the way humans were meant to live
