  1. No worries. Was in the hospital for a little while having surgery, came out....and my nation was deleted. Nice game, everyone. Toodles.
  2. Being in alliances that are 'frowned upon' is kinda my thing, sadly.
  3. I'm going to copy and paste what I just posted on the GPA's forum: I'm 50 and mostly-retired from a brief career that included teaching, writing, non-profit fundraising, policy analysis and probably something else I've forgotten. My academic training includes a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master's in Theological Studies, specializing in pastoral care of the dying and recently bereaved. (Cheery subject!) I also have my MCSE, A+, Net+, Security+, CCNA and....I dunno....other little slips of paper lying around. Business Management certificates and stuff like that. Funny thing is, my education has yet to earn me so much as one thin dime. Not even kidding. Turns out all of it has been for personal interest. But now that I've had a few more minutes to think about this, I realize that I'm living the freakin' dream. It's my wife. OK, so she's hot. And she's more than ten years younger than me, which I admit mattered a lot more when I was 35 and she was 24. But that's not the best part. She owns a bar. EDIT: Or a 'pub', if you prefer.
  4. I agree with this, unfortunately. I say 'unfortunately' because the problem with many games is that people have trouble thinking outside the mechanics, never mind playing outside them. In theory, however, 'one-war treaties' are a great idea because that's how the real world has historically worked. One huge difference, though, is that real governments change in-between wars. That doesn't happen as often in a game. Or, if it does happen, the change is usually of an incremental nature.
  5. Oh hey there! Yours was one of the alliances I was first thinking of joining. Instead, I'm going to go off to the dirty hippies in the GPA unless and until I get my bearings, figure out what the heck I'm doing, and so on. This is a project that could take years. (Also, joining an alliance while it's at war is generally either frowned upon or impossible or viewed suspiciously or....well, you know. Limits options.) It's actually kind of nice not knowing who's who, though. I don't especially care about the spillover of arguments from 'elsewhere', if those exist.
  6. The good news is that I swore (to myself) not to carry baggage from other worlds. This left plenty of space for popcorn.
  7. Howdy, stranger. So I get the feeling there's some kind of war going on?
  8. I did make America great. I moved there in 2002. Then I made it even greater by moving away. Everything I do is great.
  9. Actions are evil; as a rule, people are not. I didn't believe this until I took a test to identify psychopathology, scored surprisingly high, but then pointed out to the person administering the test that I'd never committed a crime, was honest in my dealings with people and so on. Turns out it's uncommon, but not particularly rare. (I have pointed a loaded weapon at someone with the intention of killing them, however. It didn't bother me then. It still doesn't. Take from that what you will.) There are all sorts of 'high-functioning psychopaths' out there. And be grateful for it. You're going to have a delicate surgical procedure done. Do you want your doctor to be a caring, loving professional or a driven borderline psychopath? I'll take Dr. Psychopath.
  10. Greetings. I'm King Zog of Ottawa Empire. I have no idea what I'm doing here. EDIT: That is....beyond looking to try something new. In a few days' time I will have several weeks of nothing to do, and figured I'd finally give P&W a go.
