Popular Post Jroc
Orbis Open Source Initiative Mission Statement We, the Orbis Open Source Initiative, henceforth, The Initiative, seek to promote the use of Open Source programs, bots, scripts, and erratta to further benefit the Orbis Community at large. Core Beliefs Open Source has the potential to usher in a new era of tech being used to further enhance the Orbis experience. We must promote Open Source in Orbis to further enrich the player base. Learning should be about fun and we aim to provide greater tools and frameworks to help tech-literate players take a larger role in their alliance through use of open source tools made possible by The Initiative. Transparency, we aim to do everything in the open, up for audit and questions being asked. Leadership The Initative is completely volunteer based. We currently have 3 Project Admins that will provide support and guidance to new volunteers and those who want to learn. The Initiative grants free-range to developers who wish to come under our umbrella and develop thier programs. As long as they don’t break any applicable laws, etc… Transparency All development done by projects under the umbrella of the Initiative will be done in the open with all discussions and meetings have records of what was said. Its important for us to develop, admin, and discuss in the open as its a cornerstone of a healthy open source community. Programs we will be hosting and maintained by us Prometheus, will officially transfer hands to The Initiative. Transferring a project over The origional owner/author must contact us to begin the process. We will then ask for the origional owner/author to license it under an Open Source License, we recommend the MIT but any should be fine. We then begin a transferring of the repo. Once, the repo has been transffered, we will ask the author if they wish to continue development. If yes, we let them be to happily work in the open. If no, we archive the repo. ------- Info ---- Github Link: https://github.com/OrbisOpenSourceInitiative Discord: https://discord.gg/YqvMWh9
Dio Brando
Having had been in contact with various players of P&W struggling to truly keep up with alliances that have to a great degree automated data collection, analyses techniques, and thus predictory power, and after reading jroc's previous thread about Prometheus (A Saner API), I thought that such an initiate would be a good way to both educate, facilitate and help others along their way when it came to programming. I encourage all players willing or wanting to learn more about programming, or simply being there to ask questions about our aims, to join the Discord. o/

John Smith
@Jroc this seems to be limited to projects that are able to be posted to GitHub, is there any way a Google Sheet/Excel could be submitted to the Initiative?

See project "Paper Angel". Really all that needs done for spreadsheets is upload them a file to discord or post a link to the sheet with public download as an option.
