On January 6th, 2018 House Stark and Lordran decided we will be moving from an ODoAP to an NAP intiating in 72 hours.

IQ seems to only be comfortable when there’s an NAP in effect - otherwise the rest of the game is obviously out to get them.

Technically they're just altering an existing treaty, not adding a new one. The amount of treaties hasn't changed.

Except yknow... there hasn’t been. The NAP ended some time ago - a War not happening since is a byproduct of a craptonne of stuff that has been discussed ad nauseam, not a consequence of there being an actual NAP.

I can understand why it happened. Although the FA directions of both alliances are now night and day, they don't want to completely burn that bridge for old time's sake (rather or not that's for actual relations or just for face is a different story).

The PR fallout would be unimaginable for IQ and HS, KT would get an amazing gift.  Why would HS and IQ go through the trouble of canceling a treaty and being put in this vulnerable position when they could have rolled KT beforehand at any point. HS or IQ in all possible situations do not achieve a good outcome for the game by moving first, KT has the game on lock.

But seriously, why is there a NAP?  Was there a threat of war between the two alliances?

Or is it just a official friendship thing?

Never quite understood NAPs outside of the aftermath of a war or building UP trust (not downgrading it).
