August Ames, a well-known and active pornstar, said she didn't want to screw a gay man for a shoot for her safety. This is perfectly valid because the gay community has very high levels of STDs that are life-threatening. Upon doing so, she was harassed on social media terribly. This ended with her eventually taking her own life.

I don't really know what to say about this. Like, how do you translate "I don't want to screw gay men because I don't want an STD" to "I hate gay people"??? I hope everybody who played a part - everybody who sent her a hateful message on social media - feels guilty about this for a long, long time.

I heard about this, pretty sad really.

It seems more like a side effect of social media in general, tends to make people major twats over really small and trivial shit.

I do find it ironic that the people responsible for her harassment are among the same people who constantly rattle on about female consent only to turn around and blast her when her consent is violated.

On one hand, that comment about not wanting to get an STD by doing a porn video with a guy who's also done gay porn is kinda dickish, as, IIRC, the professional porn industry is pretty big on no STDs and I haven't seen anything about the other guy actually having STDs. Still, her body, she decides what she does with it and who she does it with. I can kinda see where people are getting "homophobia" from, but it absolutely does not excuse them from this sort of behavior. Social media... Well, big magnifying effect when a lot of people start going at you, not to mention the anonymity of the internet making it far easier for people to be dicks. RIP her, and to hell with the people who caused her death.

A bit trivial seeing how she had sex with blacks and they have high STD levels.

Black men in America are... 6.3% of the pop and are 40% of the cases looking at it. 78% of said cases coming from male to male infection. They are also less likely to get treatment.

https://www.cdc.gov/nchhstp/healthdisparities/africanamericans.html#HIV

However as she didn't raise the issue in those cases you have to trust that said men were not Homosexual/Bisexual (Bisexual is iffy, is "pay for gay" really enough to deem someone a Bisexual? Many would say no). Heterosexual men are only 15% (wonder what defines the 7% left over...) of cases among black men which would reduce the total 40% (which includes gay black men) to 6% which matches their pop numbers. This still actually still means over representation when you compare them to other groups, but being Homosexual/Bisexuals is very much the big factor.

You guys are focusing on the wrong side of the argument.  She declined to sleep with a man for whatever reason, and she was harassed for that reason.  Whether that reason is factually right or wrong doesn't cover up the fact that people harassed her because she chose to do what she felt needed to be done for her body's safety.

Sketchy nailed it.

She was harassed because the person she declined to have sex with was in a minority group.

Should everybody be harassed for not sleeping with a certain "group"?

They shouldn't obviously and its not just refusing to have sex with a person in a minority group, if you do anything to avoid interaction with a minority group you will be harassed. That is the fact..

She simply declined to have sex with said person.  That's not avoiding interaction, that's simply not giving consent.  You can cite her reason all you want, and whether she's right or wrong, does not matter.  In the end, consent is what matters.

Consent is an odd word to use for this situation. I'm not disagreeing with you but you have it from slightly the wrong angle. The same people who support "consent" and "women doing whatever they want with their bodies" are the ones who harassed her to death. She broke the "rules" for avoiding interaction with a minority group, sex is an interaction. Her "consent" and control over her body at that point was irrelevant to them.

You do realize you are both agreeing with each other right.

We are and we aren't, he's trying to make it about her being a woman and focusing on just that aspect.

I don't think she killed herself necessarily over this. She had a history of issues that put her in an emotionally fragile state. Think it's a mental health issue that was exacerbated by the twitter stuff.

Yeah, I've read somewhere that she had depression. Combined with the harassment...

I was just recently wacthing Brokeback Mountain on TV and that scene when Ennis imagines how Jack died comes to mind.  Only in this case it's the opposite.

Disgusting nonetheless.  I hope that the bullies hang themselves over what they did, but I know they really don't give a $#!+ anyway.  Scum.

This statement is ironic.

As for this op, let's suppose that August refused to have sex with someone from Alabama. This is a perfectly valid reason, because Alabama as a state has abstinence-based sex education which has led to high rates of unintended teen pregnancies and a bad case of some super Gonorrhea running around. CDC estimates 1 in 3 sexually active people have clyamedia there.

If people for the past 500 years have at best refused to bake a cake for you, at worse killed you because you were Alabamian, can you see how negative stereotyping can be seen as "I'm an ignorant little shit who judges people based on the little information that I have about them, presumably collected over the countless generations of Alabamophobic mainstream culture that demonizes our existence?"

It's a useful mental exercise. Through the years, many thinkers have been fascinated by it. But I don't enjoy playing. It was a game that was born during a brutal age when life counted for little. Everyone believed that some people were worth more than others. Kings. Pawns. I don't think that anyone is worth more than anyone else. Chess is just a game. Real people are not pieces. You can't assign more value to some of them and not others. Not to me. Not to anyone. People are not a thing that you can sacrifice. The lesson is, if anyone who looks on to the world as if it was a game of chess, deserves to lose.

Wow, thanks for letting me know. Guess I wont be shooting porn with people from Alabama either. Thanks Caecus

lol. Because, you know: that's ur occupation. You shoot porn with your massive benis in presumably a harem setting while drinking a vodka martini (shaken, not stirred) and climaxing to the sound of gunfire. And then at the end of the day, you think to yourself "Oh. My. God. I TOTALLY FORGOT TO DO THE DAILY CHECK IN FOR THE EXTRA BONUS CASH ON POLITICS AND WAR!!!!!"

And end up here, just in time to post a snarky comment about people from Alabama that so happens to relate to your occupation.

I'm on to you.

Hey, leave us ammosexuals alone!

Ammosexuality is an abomination against God! This country cannot condone barrel-cleaning. These disgusting heathens rub gun lube all over their metal moving parts, and then finger their triggers in public settings at ranges!

All you ammosexuals better stay in your gun vaults and never come out!

...

That actually gave me an idea. Why doesn't the NRA lobby for tax deductions for owning a rifle? You know, like having a kid? Except less hearing loss. Besides the fact that it would bankrupt our country, that would be an amazing idea! All those sweet, sweet tax deductions for more ammo at the range.

It's the 21st century! I want to see some weird stuff that's not on YouTube. Bring on the tube fed ARs and rotary breech guns and the Gyrojet in a light machine gun with electric primers that use a 9 volt battery. (brb, going to Home Depot.) We live in a world full of Japanese cartoons and pornstar suicides making international headlines, but you think ammosexuality is going to irrevocably alter humanity?

Speaking about taxes and guns, I would like the $200 tax stamp for Form 3s to be removed. I guess that should be its own thread, though.
