lHello and welcome to the Hungadada Report. This is Issue II Edition III.

Navy: HNB Brest to be Expanded

The Hungadadian Navy has received official permission to expand the facilities of Hungadada Naval Base Brest. HNB Brest, located in Hungadadian Britanny, is one of Hungadada's most important bases. The naval base, according to an informative report published by the Navy, had reached capacity 2 years ago and required a major upgrade to keep in line with Hungadadian military commitments. These upgrades revolve around upgrading and expanding the base to better allow future ships and vessels of the navy to use the base. More submarine pens are expected to be built, with existing ones expanded to reflect newer classes of submarines. An airstrip and airbase are also expected to be built to allow better logistics capabilities.

In what appeared to be an unrelated visit, DSDH Director Sir Aaron Bach met with the Laurentian Defense Minister Léo Pascal and Chief of Defense Staff Yannick Lefebvre to discuss how to better cooperate in terms of defense. The result of that meeting was a landmark agreement to allow the Laurentian navy and airforce to utilize the expanded area of HNB Brest. HNS reached out the DSDH for comment:

"The deal reached by the DSDH and Laurentia allows for much greater cooperation among two great nations. In cooperating at Brest, we'll be able to refine our joint military strategies as allies to ensure we're doing the utmost to keep the peace".

The informative report published by the Navy says that the expansion will cost §722 million, of which Laurentia will pay an undisclosed amount. The expansion and renovation of HNB Brest are expected to take 3 years, which will coincide with the launching of 3 new Apollo class destroyers.

Emperor Returns to Imperial Palace

The Emperor returned to the Imperial Palace after almost a year in hospital recuperating following an attempted assassination attempt on his life. Emperor Tristar was moved from Port Royalty Lionsgate Olympus Hospital under heavy guard to the palace, where he will continue to heal under the care of palace doctors. Sources from within the palace say that the Emperor is still weak, but is now able to fully talk and move about. A source close to the Emperor who wished to remain anonymous said that Emperor Tristar was considering returning to the throne this week, although he will take the advice of his doctors and his advisers before doing so.

The Emperor was rushed to hospital almost a year ago after an explosive device went off within the private quarters of the Imperial Palace. The Emperor sustained life-changing injuries and had to be resuscitated at least 5 times en-route to the Port Royalty Lionsgate Olympus Hospital. Once at the hospital he underwent emergency surgery, before being placed in a medically induced coma so that his brain could heal. After this, he underwent at least 8 more surgeries to repair damage to his body. The Emperor now has a prosthetic left leg.

The investigation into the attack, led by HIS and the HNP found an elaborate scheme planned by the AHM. The investigation led to dozens of arrests, including the arrest of former Scottish Hungadadian governor Argus Aongyle. The investigation also uncovered how a high-level IPG guard, disenfranchised by the Hungadadian government, was recruited by the AHM to place the explosive device during a CCTV security upgrade.

According to hospital sources, the Emperor is expected to make a full recovery, although it may take some time.

Minister of Energy: 'Nuclear Fusion is the Next Step'

The Minister of Energy Alban Rosewood has called nuclear fusion the 'next step' in energy production. Rosewood, who was present at the REN Energy conference in Lionsgate earlier this week, was part of the government delegation that was working to clarify how it could help research in clean energy. Rosewood made the following statement when being interviewed:

"Yes, nuclear fusion is the next step. Look, we have nuclear fission energy. The benefits of nuclear fission are bountiful. But, look at the downsides: radioactivity, the threat of a nuclear meltdown, threats against nuclear facilities, and so on. And even with security measures in place, there's always that 'what if' thought in the back of your head. You know, 'what if someone presses the wrong button'. So, then, we have to ask ourselves: what is the next step? Nuclear is clearly the best way to go. Nuclear fusion is the next step. If you weigh the risk and the benefit, you'll see that nuclear fusion, in theory, is the best. Nuclear fusion requires a highly controlled environment. If that environment was breached, the energy-making process would be broken. The plasma would just, sort of, fizzle out. No explosion, no meltdown, no release of radioactive particles into the environment. There's no uranium, no radioactive waste facilities required, nothing. So, therefore, the Ministry of Energy, under my leadership will be investing heavily in a research program for nuclear fusion. It's the best option for the continuity of Hungadadian clean energy."

Nuclear fusion remains a prized goal in energy research for Hungadada. Programs to develop a steady research program fizzled out from a lack of funding after funds were diverted elsewhere to deal with more urgent problems. However, with a budget surplus in sight, the Ministry of Energy has begun diverting resources to begin funding nuclear fusion research. The research program that Minster Rosewood was referring to will take place at the Nuclear Research Center in Lionsgate. The Center will open next year as part of the new research program, which will use state of the art technology and state resources in this new bid to develop fusion energy. A large part of the research will also be funded by private investors from energy companies such as Panda Co. and Sun LLC., who have reaped large profits and the lauding of consumers and critics alike for their green energy provisions. The Ministry of Energy has set a 15 year goal for fusion energy to be brought to the public. It remains to be seen if the Ministry of Energy can deliver on this goal.
