That's why I don't debate with communists only the right wing (of every part of the right spectrum). Debate is supposed to assist both in refining the argument and the cause. With the left, there is no convincing them, you will be inherently wrong every time. That's why you just shut them down and start up the helicopter.

As to leftists not being as leftist as before, I don't think that's true at all. How many leftist people do you actually talk to on a regular basis? The majority of the far-left at the moment are tankies (Marxist-Leninists), people who say (and genuinely mean) that "Stalin did nothing wrong" and "North Korea is best Korea, a people's paradise". These people read and follow the same texts their fellow leftists did 50 years ago and they're pretty damn far left, even further left to myself. So I'm not sure how you can say that they are less left now than in the past.

You don't think advocating for a representative democracy whilst under the control of a monarch qualifies a group to be deemed as being on the left? The left/right comparison is all relative to each country's individual politics after all.

Id say there is a lot less support for communism and other "extreme" variants of that ideology then there was 50 years ago, we of the left are now mostly on the democratic socialist or social democracy gravy train now with only the idealists still hoping for unicorns and anything else related to Marx.
