Charles de Gaulle
After a heated debate in Parliament over the current use of the term "Byzantine" to refer to the empire, has reached a climax with the ruling Democrat party pushing forward a bill to change the name of the Byzantine Empire to another, equally controversial name,"The Hellenic Empire". The bill comes as a conflict regarding the name of the country evolved into two sides, with one arguing that the name is outdated and inappropriate while the other saying that the term "Byzantine Empire" should be preserved as to protect the cultural legacy of the people. This bill, titled the "Title of the Realm Act" would not only change the name of the Byzantine empire to one referred to as more suitable by the "enlightened" faction but would also establish a totally new successor state as well. The bill has received support from large sectors of Byzantine society and is expected to pass with a decent majority.
