TGP VI:III The Status of Finland

Somewhere in the Strait of Gibraltar

 

The Swedish cruiser HSMS Gotland was on it's way back to home

base after a routine trip across the Western Mediterranean Sea and

North Atlantic. However, what most of the 400 crew members didn't

know is that their fate is sealed....

As most of the crew continued to sleep, the cabin and several other

officers prepared for their departure. After purposely untying the rest

of the lifeboats and dumping them into the sea, the small group set off

on the last one and tried to get as far away as possible...

 

"Are the charges set?"

"Yes Sir. The whole ship will be under the sea within two minutes"

"Great...whenever you're ready..."

Hello everyone! My name is Nagisa Shiota and I'll be your host

for today's segment of The Gothenburg Post! Let's get started!

 

After the fall of the Ruhr, Swedish military forces have begun a

relatively peaceful to occupation of Finland and Estonia in order

to prevent the area from falling into total anarchy. However, a few

regions, especially in the Russian side, have been taken over by

various separatist militias, and battles will have to be fought in

order to secure the area. Already, the army has been able to

into a panhandle which has separated Karelia from the 

Swedish Baltic states. However, the fighting has only begun...

 

Back in Finland however, things were far more peaceful.

Finland has many historical ties to Sweden before it became

succeeded into Rokkenjima, The Umbrella Corperation and

the Ruhr. Now that these three nations no longer exist on

Orbis, the Finnish people will be able to reunite with rest

of the confederation once again! Referendums will be held,

and the first one has already taken place, with the three

provinces of Northern Finland voting to join the Confederation

with an approval rating of 78%! Experts say that this number

will soon....eh? What's that? Oh....hold on a moment...

 

The Captain of the HSMS Gotland, taken days before the incident

 

 

This just in, we have just received news that one of our

main cruisers, the HSMS Gotland, has apparently exploded

while in the Strait of Gibraltar!. Rescue teams have been dispatched

to recover any survivors. However, the first group of men, including

the captain and several officers seem to believe that none of the rest

have survived, easily putting the casualties in the hundreds! More

details will be coming out soon, but the survivors have claimed that

the were torpedoed, placing it's surrounding neighbours on it's list

of suspects.

 

Until more through investigations can be conducted, the Confederation

will have its eyes on Mogatopia, The Evenstar and Tomaina until they

have issued any statements regarding the event. For now The 

Gothenburg Post team would like to offer its sincerest condolences

to the families of those sailors who have lost their lives. More details
