Laurentia 24

Hello to our audience in Laurentia and abroad. Latest on our international desk I am Andrea Carter.
A major hacking attack struck Laurentia's news and government agencies with reports from the Ministry of Interior that over 2,000 Government accounts were targeted and at least 3 major news organizations. Laurentia 24, Der Spiegel, and Laurentian Broadcasting Channel reported that their servers and websites were compromised.
First off, President Laurent returned late Wednesday evening from a meeting with Emperor Hungadada where both nations agreed to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership targeting economic partnership and advance military relations.

Defense Minister von Jæger returned to Montréal after "Joining Laurentian Troops in scouting operations". Foreign Minister Renault also returned from her personal vacation and in a Foreign Affairs Conference unveiled the new Laurentian Embassy in Britannia and Port Royalty. The Conference had foreign dignitaries from across the world and think tanks in discussing Laurentia's Foreign Policy and international developments.

The Britannian-Laurentian Strategic Military Cooperation Agreement was signed by President Laurens after the Senat voted in a high majority to ratify the agreement.

Defense Minister von Jæger and Deputy Defense Minister Reinhardt were seen at the Blue House with President Laurens for an almost 8-hour meeting. Their spokesperson told Laurentia 24 "Minister von Jæger and Reinhardt had a meeting with the President to bring both her and the Defense Minister up to speed on current ongoing operations."

The Ministry of Civil Defense closed over 12 buildings after suspected FRA cells claimed to have placed deadly chemical weapons inside of them. Minister de Roux and her Deputy Minister Hallenberg spoke at a Press Release.
"Although the threat is minuscule. The Gendarmerie and Bio-Chemical units of Her Majestys Royal Armed Forces have begun sweeping 12 high rise apartments in the downtown area of Montréal. The FRA reminiscence has continued to pose an unfeasible threat. However, due to lack of oversight. The FRA has slowly expanded into a rebel group intent on fighting the Government of Laurentia. The Chemical Threat is nothing to worry, We have a high level of certainty that this was a simple hoax and no is not an actual chemical weapon."

Der Spiegel

The Der Spiegel was unable to continue it's daily news cycle due to a cyber attack that caused the compromise of over 30,000 accounts on our website. Maintenance had the website down until Monday Afternoon.

Prime Minister Korczak and President Young-suk held a round table discussion with their respected ministers. Although still on-going. Our reporters can say that breakthroughs in both Economic and Technological have been made. However, our sources say that there are still some issues regarding Military and Trade.

The Flemish Republican Army bombs the Laurentian Financial District. Killing over 100 people, injuring 200+. A makeshift bomb exploded during the early morning of trading in Berlin. The Ministry of Interior and Civil Defense said that Police and Gendarmerie units are on sight, and that medical personnel and EMS are providing medical attentions to hundreds of wounded.

The attack comes the day before the annual Unification Day celebrations take place across the nation. A day where families, friends, and colleagues spend all the time with each other. The attack also came after a possible chemical threat was suspected at various apartments.

Interior Minister Julia Schütz spoke at the scene

"The Government of Laurentia condemns this vile attack against the civilian population. The attack did not disrupt trading and the Financial market in Berlin. However, the attack has killed at least 164 people, injuring an estimated 242 with 64 missing. We stand strong in the face of such attacks, and that the peace we have achieved not be derailed by fanatics."

President Laurens is set to visit the bomb site with Flemish National Party leader Wolf Smidt

Not since 1987 has The Flemish Republican Army attacked a major civilian hub. In 1987, The FRA blew up the New England Market in New Haven. Killing over 300 and injuring hundreds more. With the FRA disbanded in 1992, the Flemish Cell's in the highly ethical Flemish region of Laurentia remained active in their people's break away from Laurentia.

The Flemish group presides in a minority of Laurentians in the province of Klause. Since the late 50s, the Laurentian Self Defense Force deployed to quell the uprising and fighting.

Over the years, violence and countless civilians live cost the government billions of Kronens and in 1992 the Peace Deal was made between Laurentia, The FRA, and Local Government.

The FRA also was a major military and political force in the Republic of Flanders, fighting a Laurentian led counter-insurgency for almost 6 decades. Since then, the Flemish Republican Party was formed to represent a new face of the FRA. A peaceful one and they successfully won a majority in Parliment in 2001, 2007, and even in 2013.

The Laurentian Armed Forces pulled out of Klause in 1995, giving the local police and Province Government to handle the security of their region. In the northern regions, an ethnic group of Witten also resides as a minority. In fact, President Laurens comes from the ethnic minority of Norwegians. In the early 1700s, King Caralis invaded the Winterfell and Witten, before trading off his Danish possessions to acquire the Norwegian ports on the coast of Laurentia. As such, the Kingdom of Flanders quickly invaded the Laurentian Winterfell, promoting the 5-Year War in which Laurentia struck a decisive victory and annexed the Flemish Territories near Winterfell. The territories were of great tension between Laurentia and Flanders, however when Laurentia fell into civil war. The Flemish Territories attempted to cecced, to no avail. However, in the drawing of the Federal Provinces, The region was placed in Klause, with a minority Laurentian population. roughly 76% of the population in Klause is Flemish, with the remainder being the Laurentians. On top of this, the local government was in the capital Klaus which had a high Laurentian ethnic group. Tensions boiled and an internal conflict between the local Flemish and Laurentians ensured.

The conflict continued, what was once a small argument became a full blown warzone. The region suffered thousands of deaths, and even more injured. Kidnappings and bombings were rampant, and the Provincial Government was unable to counter the Flemish Republican Army. Soon, the FRA in Flanders began sending troops and ammunition promoting the Laurentian Military to invade the border with Flanders, and to send in combat units to stop the FRA.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We can now confirm that the death toll has risen to 171. The Interior Ministry has said at least 20 foreign nationals were killed including 2 children. Minister Shlütz has said that Laurentian Soldiers in reserve have been called from their leaves to assist the Gendarmerie in patrolling the streets of Laurentia. Prime Minister Korczak is set to address an emergency session of The Laurentian Congress of Parliment, and President Laurens will be holding an emergency cabinet meeting with Crown Prince Raimond.

Queen Jean-Marie and Crown Prince Raimond visited the bomb site, meeting first responders and victims. The Queen promised quick resolve and reasonable response.
