Dubayoo
1) Different people believe the same belief for different motives, and different people believe in different beliefs for the same motive. A lot of people don't seem to get this. They believe there's a certain psychological profile behind an ideology. For example, many conservatives believe they're dependable traditionalists who learn from experience while believing liberals are utopian artists. Many liberals believe they're empiricists who learn from experience while conservatives are religious dogmatists. Likewise, many conservatives believe in cultural heritage while believing liberals deconstruct everything. Many liberals believe in refined sophistication while believing conservatives are insensitively crude. 2) Leaders often compromise with others on the other side. That way, they can divide and conquer their followers to remain on top. Leaders understand how followers often don't grasp the previous rule. Therefore, they can portray the opposition as having the opposite psychological profile as what followers have on a situational basis. For example, leaders on both sides can recognize that some their own followers believe the opposition doesn't appreciate learning from experience. Therefore, they can identify their own group as learning from experience, portray the opposite as not, and then get their followers to argue with the opposition for not learning from experience. The same thing can happen about culture. They can portray the opposition as being uncultured in order to prevent their followers from uniting. It prevents a paradigm shift that would revolutionize how people think about what's really going on, and maintains the status quo. 3) People anticipate how the motives behind beliefs will have consequences in each other's lives. If someone believes in learning from experience, then someone also believes in what's required to enable wrongdoers to hide behind plausible deniability, to frame dogooders as being guilty by snapshotting, or to appear to do good by keeping up with appearances. If someone believes in culture, then someone also believes in what's required to ostracize others merely from not being brought up in cultured households, pursuing alternate lifestyles that aren't necessarily refined, or being more technically rather than creatively minded. These anticipations create hierarchies through self-fulfilling prophecies __________ A lot of people believe the conventional political compass as we know it is the end all to be all to politics, but it's really not. It's an abbreviation we use by looking at the results of what people believe in rather than why people believe in what they do. If you really want to shake up political thinking, you have to realize it doesn't matter what people believe in. What matters is connecting with their motives behind their beliefs. Pylon69
"What matters is connecting with their motives behind their beliefs." Pretty much agree. I think everyone one wants pretty much the same thing it just that some people get toxic thoughts/ideals in their heads. Problem with Culture too. If you come from rape culture you'll want to fight for free rape. Anyway's like I said toxic ideas. People can be easily convinced and manipulated. Everyone thinks to themselve's "No, I could never be manipulated like some sheep(I hate that word but I'll use it for this insance)" but the truth of the matter is that every single person on this plant is manipulated and influenced by one thing or another. It is impossible not to be or else you'd have no thought or just be a plant. The divide between left and right is merely a tool to be utilised by the Governments/Globalist elites in charge to pit eachother against eachother and get them to impede social progress in both corners. Similiar to how everything Donald Trump promised he'd do has been stopped at every turn by the opposition. They won't even give the new Administration a change to try and fix something. They'd rather everything just stay like shit rather than giving the opposition a chance to change anything for the better. Identity politics and collectivism is a cancer that'll destroy any Government if left unchecked. Heres a pretty picture for fun. Look how close the Commies and Nazi's are.
